M9 release is tonight, available widely on April 10'th.

Zambonie

Sorry if this is a repost, a Google search and quick search didn't really return anything.

Sorry for any mistakes, im typing on my phone.

For the US, the HTC One M9 is to be released tonight, midnight in the EST timezone. It is then available widely in stores on April 10'th

The one that is being released tonight is the unlocked version, available from HTC's website to order. The price should be around $650 for the 16GB model, which is probably expected. A little.

April 10'th is when carriers such as Verizon and Sprint, Atnt and T-Mobile Will start selling the units themselves. No one really knows yet though how much they will be charged for through carriers yet.

The M9 seems to be a good new flagship, in which we hope it will.

I heard this on my local news so I don't really have a source link for that.. But here's one from ign. http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/03/26/unlocked-htc-one-m9-launches-friday-for-650

Intel i5-6600k (Cooled by a 212 evo) - Asus Z170-A - Asus Dual OC GTX 1060 - NZXT S340 - WD 1TB (Getting SSD this month, hopefully) - 8GB DDR4-2400

LG G4 - Asus Zenwatch 2

-snip-

Based off the $650 US price tag, I am going to be they will be $200 on contract in Canada. So I am guessing the same in the US or $150.

What a waste of money, it's basically an M8 with a software update

And a screen downgrade. And a battery downgrade in terms of SOT and life in general. And a subjectively better camera. And heating issues. And the obligatory camera bulge.

The only phones which even interest me anymore are the iPhone 6/6+, HTC One M8, LG G Flex 2 and Motorola Moto X Second Gen. They're all solid (apart from the G Flex 2, since we don't know yet.)

It really is, though you'll get people jumping in with the bending bullshit and their own opinions about iOS that we have to treat as fact because it's the internet.

I had the M8, Solid phone with Google Play ROM installed on it.

Just got my hands on the M9 today, solid phone, fast smooth, some new interesting features too. It's less slippery in the hand and is easier to hold than the M9. BUT it's not an upgrade from the M8.

HTC is in an interesting position, the M7 to the M8 was an upgrade in every single way and was worth it in my opinion despite generally 1 year upgrades are foolish. The M8 to M9 though isn't an upgrade unless you NEED a better camera. IMHO

It's actually not since it's halfway through its life cycle.

The M8 to M9 is suprisingly unimpressive. In my mind, it's about on the same level as iPhone 5 to iPhone 5S. It's marginal at best.

I've been loving my M8, has been serving me very well and will not be going away any time soon. What ROM do you use? I use DigitalHigh GPE.

Though to be honest, it wouldn't be a terrible choice considering how marginally Apple updates devices from non-S to S variants. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

I read some reports of thermal throttling on G Flex 2 as well.... maybe we should avoid the 810 chips at all...

I wonder, should I get iPhone 6, M8, S6, S6 Edge, or M9....

I had the T-Mobile variant so it was GSM unlocked. The google play edition phone is GSM as well but can be modified for sprint and CDMA carriers but is a seperate ROM @GzeroD runs the modified ROM. I had to unlock the bootloader and obtain S-OFF in order to recieve OTA updates (the GPE M8 was the first non nexus device to get 5.0 btw) which reqired some tinkering which come to find out the method used was patched. I was able to do it but I had to pay 25 bucks :/ but after that I was able to modify my device to show it was a GPE phone or I could have it show it was a DEV phone also. I ran that for 3 months and then got my Nexus 6 and have been loving it since especially now with 5.1!

The M9 was a missed opportunity. HTC didn't address any of the M8s flaws (bottom bezel, poor camera quality, etc).

The iPhone 6 and the eye catching S6 Edge are definitely the top picks right now imo.

It's a decent phone really, but it's still iOS and therefore infuriates me with simple tasks. lol

S6 edge will be my next try tomorrow (I could have used it today but I left work before the pre launch fiasco started) I think I will be disappointed though I could be wrong.

The M9 has a way better camera, thought the bottom bezel is a bit off putting IMHO as well. Comfy though!

The bottom bezel can't really be addressed, they use that space for actual components in the device. As for the camera, it's subjectively improved, but it's not iPhone-level to be honest.

No the screen isn't cracked, zoom on rear camera broke and the screen turns on every now and again for no reason with the artifacts like every 3-5 hours... :(

Edit: Also, the screen shuts off on me while I'm doing stuff too. :c

I talked to my Samsung rep at work, he said they have definitely made a lot of improvements to the UI on TouchWiz and it's a lot snappier. That's well and good but samsung simply doesn't support their flagship phones as long as I would like. They still rely on the 2 year upgrade cycle (which is dying off) to mask their lazyness. In all reality the S3 should have lollipop, but it doesn't because samsung has 1000 other phones to "worry" about. S3 was a hugely successful phone that only got 3 OS upgrades (2 of them were marginal in all reality) You should expect the same thing with the S6 and especially with the S6 edge.

Look at it this way, the Note Edge is less than a year old now, the S6 edge has features that the Note edge will never get! No clue why honestly.

Yes, if you like HTC and their experience I would say that it's well worth the upgrade to the M9

Or snag an M8 at a lower price if you want to put Google Play ROM on it (a very niche enthusiast thing but you will certainly get more updates over time) and save some money.

Also the M9 doesn't have a Google Play variant because google has scrapped that program so that's one thing to take into consideration if it applies :)

Yes unimpressed with LGs skin over android.

It's ok on a hardware level but let's say I'm not enthusiastic about the next Nexus device being possibly made by LG (again)
