Zalman R1

back before lots of people started buying this case it was £25, name a better case for that price

First let's tackle the old price you claim:

http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=CA-403WB&c=CJ

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811353025

Just to name the first two I saw that are functionally better at around that price. (I also seem to remember a full-windowed CoolerMaster at ~$40 that has strangely vanished)

Now unfortunately it's current price of ~£45 puts it above a LOT of better cases. Many of which can offer functional PSUs included, but should be replaced in due time.

I will whole-heartedly admit it's just shy of functional at that £25 price (but with some perks like the pure window and support bracket which becomes less practical because...), and anyone cheaping out that much on their chassis isn't also buying high TDP parts for their build. So it is almost practical at least. At around £25 it's a worthwhile purchase for a first build. I would be modding the **** out of it to make it fully-functional though. I'm too picky when it comes to my personal build.

At its current price the Z9 and Z11 cannibalism it, the R1 isnt worth over £35 id say, its on sale pretty often

What about the Corsair 200R?

It's slightly more expensive than a Zalman R1, but better overall.

@umberts

The 200R is worth 6 eur more. I have one :D. Great case.

I'm actually surprised at the lack of quality there, a quick look on Amazon and it costs the same as the Zalman Z9 Plus did when I got one, and that's a really nice, spacious case with good airflow, the only thing I could flaw with it is that it only has USB 2 in the front ports, but then again, I'm yet to buy anything at all that uses USB 3, and I think that the rest of the case's quality rather makes up for the fact that you'll have to bend round the back of your case if you want to use USB 3.

That said, if you get it for £20 I guess it's fine, but as that isn't the standard price I'd still have expected a little more from Zalman.

The 200r video has been out for 2 and 1/2 years, as long as the case has been on the market :D

I like the deepcool tesseract better; front actually comes with real dust filters, better drive options, better toolless system, doesn't feel stupid flimsy (it is a cheap case so it's not amazingly sturdy) and costs less from everywhere I've seen.
