Community Scrapyard Wars - $300 CAD / $240 USD Gaming PC

Henry

Got the idea from Linus's video. No need to actually buy the system, just try to find the cheapest parts around. Same rules apply except the pre-planning thing. Try to not use Goodwill since they barely test it. Craigslist is better because you can actually meet the person.

After about a month, I'll start a new thread with links to all the different builds and have the community vote on the best gaming PC for $300 CAD/$240 USD. Maximum price. Assume no haggling and include after rebate prices in the total price. If you are off by +- $5, that is fine. No more.

I'll start it off:

http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/sys/4873536994.html

Q6600 Quad Core, 8GB RAM, 640GB HDD, crappy GPU I'm replacing, DVD Burner - $100 USD

http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/ele/4858706991.html

Radeon HD 7970 - Only $125 USD

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438015&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

EVGA 430W Power Supply - $19.99 USD after $10 rebate

Total price: 100+125+19.99 = $244.99 USD / $304.95 CAD (Not quite $300 CAD, but +- $5 is no big deal, plus I can sell the crappy GPU that came with the Q6600 PC for like $5 easy)

@LinusTech @Slick

Folding for LTT since April 2016.

MMkay.. Cool.. Cool..

But they ACTUALLY do the haggling and test out the system (eventually).

Either way, the video was a very good idea :D
