Off Balance

wolfgang

This is my first custom pc.
Its a slow build because of buying stuff one piece at a time as it comes on sale. I still have a few things left to get.

The end result is going to be for photo and some video editing and light gaming for now. Triple monitor will be in the future with a desk upgrade.

Anyway on to the goods.
Cpu: fx-8350
Cpu Cooler: Noctua nh-c14
Ram: 16 gb corsair vengance pro 1866
Motherboard: Asus sabertooth 990fx r2.0
SSD: Samsung 840 pro 512 gb
HDD: 2x WD black 3 tb
Graphics: Asus r9 270x 4gb
Case: Rosewill line glow
Psu: Corsair hx 750
Os: windows 7 pro
Other parts: card reader, disk drive, fan filters.

I bought the case before I really knew much. I just knew I was going to need one. Wish I had bought a slightly bigger and better case but now its a challenge to see what I can do to it.

Future mods: sleeved cables, side window, psu cover.

This is how you build a computer right? Just throw a bunch of stuff in a metal box and you have a computer.

You are overspending by a metric fuckton on the storage and motherboard and underspending on the CPU and GPU.

Look at his uses. The last thing on the list is "light gaming" meaning it's likely also the last thing that came to mind.

Not everyone here is building huge gaming machines. Maybe he only needs a 270x to do what he needs to do?

Amd because its cheaper.

Storage because of photo and video storage. Also planning to upgrade my camera soon which will take more storage. I also shoot in raw so it takes up more.

The sabertooth because of the 5 year warranty. And it was only 1 of 3 boards that had the features I wanted.

Right now for computer games its just minecraft and some older rts games.

In the end. As long as its faster than my 1.5 ghz laptop, Im happy.

Oh dear, team red is gonna have a fun time with that.

Minecraft and java based games in general seem to have a tough time with AMD CPUs and GPUs

You DON'T NEED TWO WD BLACK 3Tb HDD!

Get an External Hard Drive then!

WD My Book 6TB USB 3.0 3.5'' Desktop External Hard Drive  @280$

Because he had a hard drive.

I could do that. But at only $20 more I get a pair of 3tb blacks. I was going to only get 2tb drives but at $10 more for an extra tb. Why not?

It's either minecraft is just poorly coded, or it really doesn't like AMD.

Actually, it's Java's fault. Java can't handle the rendering while on AMD GPUs/CPUs.

and becuz meincreft is poorly coded and would run a lot betr as C++

It's not even that it's poorly coded, it's just that it's too much for java to handle

i can fit a fan between the cooler and the side of the case if i wanted. The top of the case is a much tighter fit though. I have exhaust fans up top and can barely fit my finger between the cooler and the fan.

edit: less than 1/2 inch between cooler and top fans.
