Wireless Network Card

Felice

Hey guys.

My first build is almost complete and as my motherboard doesn't have an on-board wi-fi solution I'm wondering what the best option for me is.

I will not be able to connect via a wire, it has to be wireless.

Our internet is fairly good (45-50 Mbps) and I work from home (in the UK) and play EVE Online so a reliable, strong connection is important.

I have a PCI-E slot (x4) free and could obviously use a usb solution.

What do you guys recommend I use ?

Thank you

Before going wireless, consider something like Powerline, if possible.

It's a shared house so I'm going to stick with wireless, how much better will the wireless card be if I spend about £25-£30 ?

...and will I be using the PCI-E (x4) slot or another ? Sorry for the noob questions

The PCIe x4 slot will work.

I have a TP-Link USB wifi reciever. I use it 24/7 on my desktop (router is in another room so wireless is the only way) and bring it to school for my laptop which has the worst internal WiFi card ever,  on top of some rooms not getting WiFi at all. Here it is.

Worked on my disk drive-less laptop (somehow) but didn't on my desktop (had to use the disk it came with to install the software).

I honestly recommend USB ones rather than PCI because of portablility. http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-WN823N-Mini-Sized-One-Button-10-4-10-8/dp/B0088TKTY2/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1410838996&sr=8-4&keywords=tp+link+usb+wifi

If you have your case backed up against a wall, I would recommend a USB adapter or a card with portable antennas, since wall does not transmit wifi signals well.
