Nvidia over AMD?

Why is it that the major tech youtubers use Nvidia graphics cards over AMD in their personal rigs?

- Linus uses 2 GTX Titans in SLI

- Slick uses a single GTX 780

- Austin Evans uses 2 GTX 780's in SLI

- Logan from Tek Syndicate uses a single GTX 780 ti

- Paul from Newegg uses a single GTX 770 4gb

- Jayztwocents uses 2 GTX 780's in SLI

- Elric from techoftomorrow uses Nvidia

- Kyle from newegg uses Nvidia

Does anybody know why this is the case? I'd really like to know.

Cause Nvidia is better for what they're doing,and maybe because they're getting more support from them,too.

They're not getting more support from them.

 

For example, NVIDIA haven't given Linus anything but review samples. AMD have given them more to do the AMD Ultimate Build Guide and other build guides themed upon AMD, such as Intel have for theirs.

Nvidia is better for the editing applications that they use, simple as that, if companies like adobe support the opencl(or was it opengl) from amd more then there could be competition.

Well Nvidia has CUDA acceleration and Linus personally uses Nvidia for his shield.

They all use Adobe software for video editing, which benefits from CUDA a lot.

Adobe Open CL is like thousands of times better then cuda for acceleration,

Open CL tends to suffer from CPU bottlenecking where CUDA doesn't (but this may not be a factor given the powerful CPUs being used). Generally Nvidia has better support with CUDA, as well as being able to use Open CL and other APIs, as well as other motivating factors like Shadowplay. I hope to see software utilising Mantle, especially video rendering programs, as these would massively benefit from the parallelised processing of AMD GPUs with very little bottlenecking.

There's a difference between performance tier and price tier. Nvidia has generally higher prices, but between performance tiers, Nvidia wins a large portion of the time.

because these guys are often given review samples of sheild and need an nvidia gpu to use it which nvidia is more than happy to give them as review samples and because of the whole bandwagon mentality. 
"i am a youtuber with a bunch of graphics cards, i must use the highest end nvidia card or else i wont be taken seriously"
but like apple.
if a tech guy has an amd card in his rig then he'll probably feel like hes not going to be taken seriously because nvidia carries a price premium (because an iphone 5s is way more powerful than an s5 right?)

I wouldn't classify titan as a gaming card as its really not even something any one should consider when there's cards like the 780ti as well as there is Quardro cards for the real pro uses, as GeForce drivers aren't for a professional environment

yes but the titan is a hybrid card, has workstation specs with gaming drivers

So why would you, purchase a workstation spec'd card if you can't preform workstation task because you lack the proper workstation graphics, even @LinusTech doesn't believe the titan is a card that should be considered for gaming

nvidia is actually behind in performance in every price point right now with the exception being the 780ti because AMD does not have a card in it's price bracket.

1. less driver issues

2. better  built in editing software and open CL and cuda

3. retail companies (MSI,Asus,Gigabyte,Sapphire) send  them sample cards to benchmark and test,after testing them out They probably purchase cards that most sutable  for the applications they use most of the time not counting gaming

4. They have to keep the power consumtion and heat down, after seeing the Linus Tech office they use at least 20 computers in the whole house and not counting their storage systems. AMD cards are power suckers even more then Nvidia cards to be honest
