Depends if your focus is on games or productivity.

Productivity I'd go for multiple 1440p monitors as you'll gain more pixels in total if you purchase 3 of them.

Multiple 1440p monitors in surround are a heck of a lot more pixels, so productivity wise they can be pretty awesome if you don't mind the bezels in between. Gaming wise, there is nothing out there that can max out 2-3x 1440p surround though.

3 1080p monitors are hard to push, 3 1440p would need some monster equipment.

4k is easier than 3x 1440p.

1440p x3 = 11,059,200 Pixels

1440p x2 = 7,372,800 Pixels

4k           =  6,134,400 Pixels

The 1440p would be more, even if it's just two displays.

Not a fan of multi monitors for gaming the bezels annoy me

What about the LG 34 UM95 ultra wide 21:9 monitor that linus looked it. Its super high res and also wide like having 2 monitors

Depends if you like having multiple displays, Personally I prefer just one monitor and currently use a 27" 1440p display on my 780ti, even If I went SLI pushing 4k or multiple 1440p displays is still TOO demanding in my eyes

Dual 780 Ti cards won't even be enough for all games at 4k, let alone surround 1440p. Wait for the 6gb versions and get 6 gb Classifieds from EVGA.

or get titan blacks...

If you want to play on ultra at 60 fps, dual 780tis wont be enough

My single 780ti just about manages everything at 1440p ultra at a nice smooth 60fps, hence why I am getting a second one

I imagine new games coming out may be even more taxing so personally 4k is out of the question.

However depending on what you play, and waht settings you find acceptable, 4k is "doable" with that that configuration but for how long and what settings is to be determined

That or just get a more effiecient 780ti? EVGA? :o

I would trust Quad 780ti's over two Titan/Blacks.

But I would go for 4K since you can just scale @ 1440p within 4K also ensuring future proofing monitor wise when they release powerful enough GPU's to support 4K @ 60hz/FPS. Most likely the 800 or high end 800/lower 900.

You're going to need SLI Titans at minimum to run 7680x1440

[AMD Athlon 64 Mobile 4000+ Socket 754 | Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro nForce3 | OCZ 2GB DDR PC3200 | Sapphire HD 3850 512MB AGP | 850 Evo | Seasonic 430W | Win XP/10]

It's easier since you can play at more optimal Aspect Ratios like:

5:4 - 4:3 < Nobody uses CRT in this day and age (Or at least I hope not)

16:10 + 16:9 < Best for gaming > 1280 × 800 - 1680 × 1050 - 1920 x 1200 - 2560 x 1440 - 3840 × 2160 [False 4K] I use 1920x1080 seems fine. I used 1440x800 for a few years but it's not worth it...haha

Any monitor AR from above ^ will do perfectly for gaming since you don't want 1440x800 or something like that since it's odd and will look mighty strange on any game.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Field_of_view_in_video_games < Explains in good detail why 16:9 is the optimal aspect ration in the current circut of resolutions.

Of course any gaming manufacturers like ASUSm ROG, BenQ will know whats the best resolutions. But I personally will be getting a 4K for £479 from Samsung so I can test a few games with my soon to be Single EVGA SC 780ti 3gb.

Anywho, 3x 1440p's will roast any card currently on the market I mean you will struggle to run most games at medium if you stretch it over 3 1440p's, it is ill advised to get them it's either 1 4K or 3 1080p's.

Multiple 1440p monitors in surround are a heck of a lot more pixels, so productivity wise they can be pretty awesome if you don't mind the bezels in between. Gaming wise, there is nothing out there that can max out 2-3x 1440p surround though.

Sure their is. I average 60-80fps on most games maxed out .... With 4 titans :P lol. If you go the surround route to amd though. Nvidias surround/SLI drivers are garbage with major issues ATM. Those of us that run several current gen cards in surround on windows 8.1 have been screwed for a long time. For example in ffxiv I get about 25fps due to SLI simply not working. This causes all 4 cards to run at 100% load which puts my heat thru the roof and pulls well over 2000w from the wall.

The games in which SLI doesn't work at all I end up having to underclock/undervolt my cards even with the fans at 100% to keep them under 85, not to mention keep them from blowing my circuit. When it does work properly I can overvolt/overclock and all is hunky dory. Even then their are other issues to contend with like bezel correction locking up the PC and textures not loading/rendering etc.

It's bad. So bad that it has kept them from releasing the titan z and has kept them from their usually 2-4 week driver updates for a few months and counting now.
