Posted November 12, 2018 Hey guys I currently have one 8Gb ddr4 2400mhz ram in my system. I need to get another 8gb ram stick as my system is starting to struggle handling my work load. I can't afford to get a full 16gb kit, i can only buy another 8gb The dimm i currently have is this. I am unable to find the exact same dimm. Is it possible for me to just buy any other dimm that is also cl16 but is 2666mhz since i am unable to find any 2400mhz. i know it will then only run at 2400mhz but that is okay for now.this is the closet match i could find at a decent price
 I've even used ECC RAM, on consumer boards with consumer CPUs that don't list support. I have also had boards work with one DDR3 stick but not another though. Its kinda hit or miss. But in the majority of my experience, most of the time it will work. There are definitely exceptions though. At this very moment I'm using Crucial CL15 8gb DDR4 rated at 2133mhz and in my country this ram stick seems to be gone. The best answer I've seen so far was similar to this: You might get any type of ram you'd like but ! (there's always a BUT) you might/might not encounter problems with the sticks while paired. There are people saying that they've had problems with their sticks and people saying that with the same sticks didn't get into trouble with that mixture. So.. if you can wait up till Black Friday reaches your country and see if you can afford a 16gigs kit. If yes then buy it and after all sell your other 8gig stick. || CPU: Intel i5-8600K || Cooler: CoolerMaster Hyper 212X || Motherboard: Gigabyte Z370 HD3P || GPU: Gigabyte GTX 1050ti OC Windforce 4GB || Memory: 16GB Crucial DDR4 3000mhz || HDD: WD Black 500GB + Seagate Barracuda 2TB || SSD: Samsung 980 1TB || PSU: Corsair VS550 || Case: nJoy Ice Cage || Fans: Segotep Halo Ring RGB ||Monitor: 2x Dell 27" P2717H IPS Full HD || Second Monitor/TV: LG 49UJ620V UHD || Mouse: Logitech G502 || Keyboard: Logitech G810 + Royal Kludge RK84 || Speakers: Philips SPA-5300 subw + Arylic 2.1 + DIY Bookshelves w/ Dayton Audio || Headphones: HyperX Cloud Flight S || TO BE UPGRADED: >> Headphones << >> Keyboard << >> HDD << >> Mouse << >> PC Case << >> Memory(another stick) << >> Graphics Card <<
