Can use the i5 4670 boxed cooler for a i7 4790k?

Hey guys,

 

I heard that some boxed cooler push the cpu too much and cause problems at the cpu / socket contacts.

Can you tell me if I can use the old fan for the new cpu?

Yes you can use it, just keep in mind your thermals won't be ideal however at stock clocks there is nothing to worry about.

It's not, Intel stock coolers were decent on Haswell era, they were way larger with copper base and better fan, if he runs at stock settings it won't be bad, just noisy.

You can use it, but don't expect great temps, it's an Intel stock cooler

The stock cooler tends to have less mounting pressure than aftermarket ones due to less sturdy mounting hardware.

Stock coolers are fine in sense you are asking. They don't cause any bending or stuff like that. The bending was reported to happening on one generation, and handful of CPUs and mobos. Its not issue you should worry about. There haven't been reports about that sorts in over year.

 

I personally would not use stock cooler with i7, but thats personal preference. You can use, and even get decent temps by tweaking voltages.
