I'm going to change my psu and I do not know much about it.Help!

teohoyos1

I have the psu that came with my PC and it is the generic one (into my ignorance do not change it before). But now I am going to change it into an Evga 600w and my doubt is if the size was entering my case.

My question is if the power supplies when they are ATX are always of the same dimension.

My case is a ATX and my Board too.

Sorry for my english and thanks in advance

Yep, you can change it with no size conflicts. Make sure your motherboard takes a standard 24-pin connector, but with the PSU you have in there, I can't imagine you're dealing with anything proprietary.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

What is your budget/location? That PSU isn't the most highly rated and probably wouldn't be recommended by anyone here. As for the size, all ATX PSUs are the same height and width, but the depth can change based on the wattage.

So if it is atx the psu fits in a case atx?

Yes, if the case supports ATX power supplies.

If its 300W and you maybe thinking of upgrading more components later on, that I would go with something 600W minimum, I would go a little higher though.

A PSU is arguably the most important piece of your system, cause if it goes bad, it could take literally everything with it. I'm pretty sure the one you have picture is one of the bottom tiers of the PSU tier list here on the forums

I know.. but if you get a cheap PSU, you risk the life and performance of your other components.  You should really up the budget for a better PSU.  It could outlast your other parts.
