I have done it the screen turns all different colors and the computer freezes and you just reboot and you will be fine 

nothing much to it

Heres my advice - don't.

 

I took my ribbon cable off my Crossfired GPU's once while gaming due to getting artifacts while in a competitive game with my gaming crew.  Was under some influence lol and thought, f it I will just pull the ribbon cable.  Did, didn't fix the artifacting (was forced to reboot) - it killed my second GPU until I reseated it.  I got super lucky.  Super, that it didn't take things with it, or even 1 or both GPU's.
