Urgent Problem with Windows "attempting repairs" - work deadline

SenorKiwi

Hi there,

We have a problem - one of our video editors' PC suddenly shut off and now when he turns it on again it says "attempting repairs" - as in this screenshot: http://prntscr.com/lafui5

Other error issue: http://prntscr.com/lag1pq

Any idea how we can fix this? We can't get into the PC and have a work deadline in 3 hours.

Best,

Oliver

Usually when this runs though it'll "complete the repairs" (when I don't believe it has changed anything at all) and it'll prompt you to restart. After that if nothing is really wrong you should be right back at your desktop.

Try running chkdsk

Then boot up and try to get back into windows.

If you're able to get to the login screen/desktop, immediately restart your computer so it can successfully shutdown and restart.

ok thank you will forward this.

It says to recover the BIOS settings. The only situations I know of when that happens are with a failed overclock or the motherboard battery is failing.

Go in to bios and make sure you don't have raid enabled. Then check to make sure AHCI or IDE mode haven't flipped. Then I would shutdown, open up my pc and confirm all connection are tight on my drives and motherboard. Then power back on.

Update: Thank you everyone for your help. We tried a few things and it is working now. We will see if it breaks again. Appreciate everyone's ideas.
