Asus announces ROG 27" 1440p 120hz+ G-Sync monitor!

Markus

Because somebody will buy it. The fact it's $800 is pretty stupid, I don't care what's in it.

Not that long ago $800 was the normal price for a 27" 1440p monitor, even ones with TN panels.

It's still a pretty massive price hike. It's like IPS 1440p pricing with G-sync added on as well. How much is the G-sync thing, like $300?

IPS? No? Who cares. Now you can look at an even bigger, ugly monitor. WOO HOO.

When did you hear about this?! :D

I didn't really care about those gsync monitors becuase they are too damn expensive. i would not consider myself a hardcoregamer and never really had problems that had to be solved by gsync(and are worth the 500€ for the monitor)

                                                                                      wow... pretty empty here...

I see this and I think, 799...wasn't their 4K monitor without g sync cheaper? So unless g sync is really that great, 4K is better than this IMO

EDIT: The 4K panel was also 799.

I would love one of these. And that has nothing to do with G-Sync. People seem to be forgetting that this is a 1440p 120Hz monitor. Which for a good 1440P it is around $500 US (don't even bring Korean ones into this, they are not good quality), then the price isn't that absurd. I would buy this purely for the 1440p 120Hz factor, even if it didn't have G-Sync.

As much as i'd like a 4k monitor this monitor makes more sense. The current gen of graphics cards would have no problems filling that screen and with good framerates. However if there were a 4k with gsync then Hmm, however you'd have to wait quite some time to see gsync kick in I guess as the current gen cards from what I've read still cannot quite handle 4k gaming that well.

Yes, this is a picture of 23" next to a 27" (sourced from overclock.net)
