[CES announced] Pebble Steel, now whos getting one?

Teletha

I've loved the idea of the pebble, but couldn't get over the plasticy toy look of it. I'm a huge fan of classic watches, and this brings the tech I would love to use closer to something I could actually see myself wearing all day, especially in an office setting. I still want to hold out to see what apple does with their rumored iWatch, but I have no doubt the Steel will trump the look of it. Decisions decisions...

I almost pressed order when I read it has only tricolor screen. When it has a high resolution full color touch screen, I'll buy that. I could pay extra for that. Hey, premium watches like Rolex cost like 5000 €, 500 € wouldn't be that bad for an elite smartwatch!

well the sole purpose of the clocks battery life is the screen so i doubt you'll see a color screen for a long time =/

If only windows phone would support it... ):

Agreed. I was vaguely interested in the Pebble to begin with, but it did look a little tacky. This however (Esp the Matte Black version) looks super sexy. If it supported WP7/8 then I'd definitely consider getting one. Best part for me? Checking texts/emails in the cold without taking your gloves off. No need for special touch sensitive gloves or anything.

Looks way better than the plastic ones, sure, but I'm not the kind of person that's into the smartwatch stuff.

With the possibility of an iWatch or Google watch on the horizon, upgrading from my plastic pebble for this seems like I'd really be jumping the gun. Gonna wait it out until later in the year.

Won't replace a traditional watch for me. Not unless it can give Citizen Eco-drive a run for its money.

It does look nice, but I'd rather save the $100 and buy a normal Pebble, or just wait for prices to drop even more.

I am strongly drawn towards this version of the pebble. I seriously consider preordering one.

i would get this one much sooner than the plastic one.

it became a consideration with the steel version

This. Before, I'd think "Oh, that's cool, but I'm not going to get it." Now, I actually really want one. If only I had the money. /o\

Way too expensive for what it does. Just a clock and notifications on a very low resolution tri colored screen for $250? No thanks. Might look into the Toq smart watch but for now "smart" watches aren't very smart and cost too much.
