[Suggestion] Add ability to report a user profile (not posts).

Spammers have finally gotten the memo and are just putting their shit into random user profiles and just dont not post. @Mods see my snitch thread in test posts.

a thought i just want to toss in (dont see this as a direct suggestion or feature request);

this could be countered by creating for example a monthly rerport that lists all accounts below a given post count (let's say 10), that are older than one month, and have changed or added information to their profile since the last report. a mod can then investigate based on this report, and clean up any garbage.

Restricting profiles below a certain threshold (like 10 post limit) so that they wont get to change some profile features (such as about me, location, website etc) could also work

that'll just make them put in 10 shitposts that at a glace could appear somewhat on topic.

There have been dozens of them per day for months, we go through new accounts and and ban them regularly, no need to worry about them.

But it's a good thing that they do since it makes them obvious. Much preferable to those that try to "blend in" by using chatgpt or copying posts from other forums before editing in spam links sometimes weeks/months later.

The forum software only allows for content to be reported, which does not include profile information, and changing that ourselves would likely not be a trivial task. For issues that cannot be reported through the report system please send a message to any of our moderators.

 

There's already systems in place to deal with this type of spam, and moderators already do an excellent job of addressing it. I do not believe that it would have been dealt with any sooner had you been able to report the profile.

 

Profiles without any content posted will naturally have fairly limited exposure. Without actively searching for them it's unlikely users will have much, if any, interaction with them. If people are commonly coming across such spam profiles it may be worthwhile looking in to ways to further reduce that exposure. Am I correct to assume that you discovered this account from the Newest Member feature displaying the profile on the homepage?
