PS/2 Labeled as a GAMING DEVICE PORT on MSI's website

Why I can't ever take MSI products seriously.

An antiquated I/O port being marketed as a "z0mg gaming port" and the so-called MEG Z390 GODLIKE (lol) motherboard just screams amateurish and gaudy.

Would not be surprised in the slightest if they made the PS/2 "GAMING Device Port" RGB-lit.

New Build (The Compromise): CPU - i7 9700K @ 5.1Ghz Mobo - ASRock Z390 Taichi | RAM - 16GB G.SKILL TridentZ RGB 3200CL14 @ 3466 14-14-14-30 1T | GPU - ASUS Strix GTX 1080 TI | Cooler - Corsair h100i Pro | SSDs - 500 GB 960 EVO + 500 GB 850 EVO + 1TB MX300 | Case - Coolermaster H500 | PSUEVGA 850 P2 | Monitor - LG 32GK850G-B 144hz 1440p | OSWindows 10 Pro.

Peripherals - Corsair K70 Lux RGB | Corsair Scimitar RGB | Audio-technica ATH M50X + Antlion Modmic 5 |

CPU/GPU history: Athlon 6000+/HD4850 > i7 2600k/GTX 580, R9 390, R9 Fury > i7 7700K/R9 Fury, 1080TI > Ryzen 1700/1080TI > i7 9700K/1080TI.

Other tech: Surface Pro 4 (i5/128GB), Lenovo Ideapad Y510P w/ Kali, OnePlus 6T (8G/128G), PS4 Slim.

You need more than that if you roll your face on the keyboard and still want it to register every key press

They could also be referring to the 2 USB ports located under the PS/2 port, not just the PS/2 port.

Then I've been putting my keyboard and mouse in the wrong ports...

On a serious note, while that's a valid reason, it still kind of discredits the 'gaming' name, since not everyone is going to be using ports for gaming, right?

True...

I use those ports for my keyboard and mouse to save my USB 3 ports for things that are actually USB 3 devices, so there's that reason.

It could be referring to the fact that PS/2 work using interrupts. That means that your input will be processed immediately, rather than after next round of polling on the USB.

Of course, I really doubt MSI marketing team knows that, but you never know.

I'd bet that's the reason.

I'd also bet that "antiquated port" has a bigger impact on "brain-to-game" response times than pushing framerates higher than the monitor's refresh rate (a.k.a. the placebo effect).

Some of them do.

Come Bloody Angel

Break off your chains

And look what I've found in the dirt.

Pale battered body

Seems she was struggling

Something is wrong with this world.

Fierce Bloody Angel

The blood is on your hands

Why did you come to this world?

Everybody turns to dust.

Everybody turns to dust.

The blood is on your hands.

The blood is on your hands!

Pyo.

I can't wait for the floor keyboard to come out so when I'm losing a match I can just stomp my feet numerous times to output a string of random gibberish before I rage quit.  It'd be both effective and therapeutic!

Those are usb 2.0 ports that they are choosing to call gaming ports as opposed to the usb 3.1 Gen 2 ports.
