Ryzen 7 2700x CPU w/ GTX 1070 performing disgustingly bad

Go to solution Solved by PopsicleHustler,

Get MSI afterburner to monitor PC vitals in-game like CPU/GPU temps/clock, RAM clock and usage

I mainy use my computer to play games like league of legends, GTA V, Fortnite, and some CSGO.

I ran GTA V at max settings and the FPS usually dips down to around 45-50. I don't know why and its kind of scarying me.

I tried fortnite at ultra settings and the FPS was unbelievably bad. It constantly dips all the way down to about 30-50 FPS.

Anyone has any solutions to this problem?

1300 MHz?

Do you mean 1333 MHZ ( 2666 MHz effective) ?

Which RAM kit did you buy?

Minimum speed for DDR4 memory is 1066 MHz (2133 MHz effective).

The R7-2700X is rated for 3.7 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 4.3 GHz Max.

If you are seeing LOWER than 3.7 GHz, then your CPU is thermal throttling or something.

yeah it is 1333 mhz. It was from a prebuilt pc and i transferd the parts while building a new pc.

The CPU and GPU and mobo is new.

IDK what thermal throttling is but when i was building it, the thermal paste went all over the CPU and there was alsop a time where the thermal paste was so sticky that it stuck the cpu onto it and ripped it right out of the socket when the lock thingy on

The lowest speed it seems is compatible with an AM4 motherboard is 2133mhz. Im not sure how your RAM is showing 1333mhz. Can you run a benchmark like 3D Mark firestrike extreme?

I think your having a bottleneck with RAM. I bet your CPU performance is hampered which is turn is hurting your GPU as well.

You're most likely bottlenecked by your RAM.

Make sure your RAM is REALLY running at 1333 MHz (2666).

The motherboard will default it to 1066 (2133) unless you manually enable XMP (XMP name can vary, depends on the motherboard).

Thermal throttling = CPU is overheating, reducing speed to prevent itself from getting roasted.

Download and open up HWMonitor and check the CPU temperature.

First you need to see what is causing FPS drops.

Don't go rush and buy things....
Fix the issue with current hardware first.
Likely a software/driver conflict or setting somewhere that needs to be changed.
(I'd always reinstall GPU drivers when encountering FPS problems, then source what software is the cause after checking drivers)

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Get in game and see what is happening to your parts - CPU/GPU/RAM. If there is usage drops, overheating, bottleneck. Sec, I make a screen to explain how it works.

What you're looking for is RAM/CPU/GPU usage. Tick RAM speeds to make sure its running at 2666Mhz.
