Posted October 4, 2018 Hey everyone, I am going to get either a Corsair K68 RGB with Cherry MX Blues, or a Corsair Strafe RGB with Cherry MX Browns. Both are the same price. I'm torn between the two switches. I do absolutely no gaming, so this keyboard will be for coding and typing only. I bought a key switch tester and immediately ruled out cherry reds because I didn't like how they had no feedback whatsoever. For me, I like the sound and feel of the Cherry Blues, but they are a bit too loud. The brown switches have good tactile feedback, but I feel like it's not enough for me. And I'm also a typer who is used to bottoming out keys on membranes, so I don't know whether the browns will be too light for me. I think the main problem here is the difference between using a tester and actually typing on a keyboard, but I don't have a local store where I can go to try them out. Does anyone have any recommendations? Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/979344-cherry-mx-blue-vs-brown/ Share on other sites
 Posted October 4, 2018 BLUE FOREVER. I type A TON and very quickly. I like blue switches because I can breeze through typing thanks to audible reassurance that a key-press registered vs. having to look at the screen to verify. Not sure if that makes a ton of sense, but it's the way it works for me. Conventional keyboards or non-tactile mechs always make me look down for some reason. (I usually am not looking at the keyboard or the screen. I'm usually reading something on my 2nd monitor) Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/979344-cherry-mx-blue-vs-brown/#findComment-11821524 Share on other sites
 Posted October 4, 2018 You have to test them yourself. Nothing anyone here says matters. Switch types come down to personal preference, and personal preference alone. Buy from a place that lets you return the one you don't like. I'd go Browns. I think Blues are one of the most horrid things on the planet. But I prefer Blacks or Silvers. Welcome to the forum. Posted October 4, 2018 MX Clears! Not that you'd be able to find a keyboard that uses them. I'd say go for browns, Blues just get annoying after the novelty of the clicky noise wears off. I have a colleague at work that uses Blues and it's hard to ignore the constant clicking coming from behind me. I use Browns at work and home and love them (would prefer Clears, but basically no-one uses them) Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/979344-cherry-mx-blue-vs-brown/#findComment-11821532 Share on other sites
