cooling suggestions

Hi guys, so recently my brother's cpu has began to hit 95c and I'm going to surprise him with a case and cooler. My question is, what cooler should I get him?

He currently owns an i5 4590 paired with a 1060 gb. I don't believe he has Oc'd or even touched that area for the gpu.

The case I will be getting him is more than likely a NZXT H500. It has better airflow than his current - diypc gamermax-w

He's been using the stock intel cooler and so it's just time for him to have cooler temps.

I don't want to go too overboard on his cooling since I just recently finished purchasing everything for my own build.  The budget I want to stick to is around $75 usd. I'd get him a cheaper AIO liquid cooler from like EVGA or Corsair but I don't think he "needs" it so air cooling should be fine.

Thanks for the help guys.

AIO's are overkill. A Cheap Air tower like the Cryorig H7, Arctic Freezer Esports or something similar will easily do the job.

Those are absolutely pointless for a locked Haswell i5 unless the OP's brother has enough airflow around them to run completely passively... OP should just get him something like the H7 or AC 33 Esports or be hella basic and pick up a 212 Evo since they're all plenty quiet and will keep it frosty.

Hmm, I'll look into them, I do hear Noctua getting good reviews often.

I would LOVE to be hella basic, but his birthday is coming up, so a little style for the extra cost couldn't hurt. Plus I'm getting him a new case as well. The H500 will have decent airflow and a nice side glass panel to see the guts

Yeah, ya gotta spoil the dude if it's his birthday. Personally I'm a bit salty the H7 wasn't a thing when I got my 212 Evo because I like it so much more.

My favorite cooler is the MasterLiquid Lite 120 AIO - usually find em on sale for $30-$40.  Cant hear it either.  I haven't overclocked on it but I don't plan on it (that's what the Corsair H100i V2 GTX is for) and going forward I will only be buying that price range AIO for any builds I do.  Convenient, cheap, and better than woosh woosh cause you can say you "Liquid Kewl!"

Give him the Liquid Kewl!

The NH-U9S or NH-U12S would be more reasonable for that CPU.

I do like the reviews for Noctua but those damn BROWN fans!!! They're hideous! They probably don't match anyones build unless they have a chocolate build going on lol.

I don't want to go and have to buy extra fans simply because the stock ones are too ugly :/

Can't decide between the one I picked earlier, or this one. I know he doesn't need it, but hey it looks nice and it'll keep everything cool

Go with air cooling. It'll be cheaper, quieter, more reliable, and easier to install.

check out the ice blade 200MM by deepcool, keep in mind its quite tall, if you need anything shorter and nicer looking a thermaltake c7 would be my choice. If you want a big performer like the deepcool cooler but in a better looking yet more trusted brand, get the H7. If you want an AIO, my recommendation is the masterliquid 240 lite, its like 60$ for an aio thats 240ml. If you want RGB in your life get the 65$ Master liquid 240 lite rgb, has everything the non rgb aio has but with rgb.
