Not smart enough to let @RILEYISMYNAME review the new RTX cards /meme

Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.9 Ghz  | Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3 |  PaliT GTX 1050Ti  |  8gb Kingston HyperX Fury @ 2933 Mhz  |  Corsair CX550m  |  1 TB WD Blue HDD

i'd give him the perfect score of 5/7

he knows quite a bit about technology but you can see clearly from their videos especially about the servers and the problems they had that while he knows how to make things work it does not mean its always the right way to do it.

As far as i know he grew into this role due to working at a computer store before and picked up his knowledge along the way.

In terms of smartness, 2/10

not talking about how much he knows, but how he handles sudden problems/ idea.

2 goes to finding so much sponsors

He's OK. Doesn't take me as someone who knows great in-depth about computers or know programming languages (or even unix). I don't think he went to university, more of a business man rather than a computer guy - and thats how he should be for his job.

I believe he's gone to  journalism school and graduated uni but don't quote me on that.

I would have rated him a 8/10 for creating problems, then fixing it (With varying degree of success) for video which is smartwhen you cant think of new content (or rather, his employees cant).

But I decided to give him a 4/10, because he's now using a hybird car as his daily driver (Chevy Volt, fyi). The pollution of making those lithium batteries (and shipping the ingredients around the globe in the manufacturing process) powering that car is so high, the car better run for all its life (a long life too) on electricity from renewable sources to pay for the pollution-debt in making those batteries.

Buying a hybrid car (imo) then is like buying RTX cards. The concept's good (and makes you feel and look better), but not yet practical in reality. Not until we make producing batteries as polluting as using paper cups in the same mass anyway (again, imo)

Wait wat...... He bought a Chevy Volt?

Has has he not seen Banacules' experience with them? -_-

the Toyota Prius (or even Prius Prime for the ballers) is a way smarter choice imho than a Chevy Volt. Although tbh, probably easier to get American car in CA than asian cars.

Hes keeping it for a month and then selling it to review the car and talk about the tech inside then move on to another car that the Subscribers choose or at least give ideas of what to choose

Oh okay. Thank god. Cos most electric cars or hybrids aren't great at surviving accidents.

Barnacules' Chevy Volt got totalled when he had an accident a while back.

Yeah but it wasnt just a small accident. He slid off the road going down a icy hill and smashed the fuck out of the frontside and the body frame. That is VERY expensive to repair. If it was just body panels it wouldnt have been totalled, but he unfortunately damaged the frame.

Of the tech-tuber space, he's easily above average. No, he doesn't know everything, no one does. I think a large part of his success isn't just the technical knowledge, but he's got business skills and industry contacts on top of that. Watching the Wan show is usually great. Similar long format "news" videos by other tubers... often stink. There's a fine line between adding value, and just repeating what someone else said.

Even in the tech space, the 'tubers that I'd say possibly know more, are more into electronics, so you also have to consider what level you're looking at here. They specialise in their own areas.

Yeah but no offence to linus he's more street smart than book smart. It's obvious from his videos imho.

When it comes to "computer stuff" I think his knowledge is really wider than most, but just not deeper than those who specialise in certain areas. That also gets reflected in the video content, LMG does a bit of everything, not focus deeply in one area.

1) Smart =/= knowledgeable... if you mean "how much does he know", he knows enough to assemble and use the vast majority of consumer electronics competently. He doesn't know a lot about computer science and component level electronics (I doubt he could tell you in detail how a transistor works, not that he needs to for the purposes of LTT).

2) He didn't go to university.

3) He had a knack for building computers and he worked for a tech retailer.

To be fair, I used to have a Ford and it was pretty reliable... must have been because it had a VW engine ^^
