That's just base and single core turbo

Turbo-Freq-3_575px.png

As you can see, ALL of the turbo clock speeds are exactly the same, except for single core turbo.

If you look at this review, the performance difference in workloads is generally nothing, unless you're doing something that relies on ONLY one core.

https://www.anandtech.com/show/12945/the-intel-core-i7-8086k-review

And if you're gonna OC anyways (which I'm assuming you are, with the expensive mobo and cooler), then it makes even less sense IMO.

That's why xD

With SATA connectors, it's kind of weird. While yes, there are only 5 Peripheral/SATA connectors on the PSU itself, the cables are a bit different. One SATA power cable plugs into one of those 6 pin ports, but has 3 SATA power connectors that can plug into drives on the end.

87472_1_600x600.jpg

Kind of like this. One end goes into a molex connector. Four SATA power connectors on the other side.

image.png.87aafbc8684ce70546d180e8ef59bf3a.png

so I need at least 4.5GHz on at least 3 cores, so with the i7-8700K I could easily reach that? I never overclocked before.

with one 6 Pin SATA, I can connect several SATA drives to it?

I want to make a server for hosting a dedicated server for Space Engineers and also be a media server.

https://www.spaceengineersgame.com/dedicated-servers.html

this is what I have so far

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/YT3zXP

I think what I have so far would be good for the dedicated server.

the first problem is

image.png.9d2a6210edbdf20abb88a6779b220c77.png

I'm not sure what this means. or how to fix it.

2nd problem is I can't find a power supply that with a reasonable Wattage that also has 6 SATA power.

First issue fix: unless you really really really need id, ditch the optical drive. It also uses sata. You can just download the windows iso and burn it to a usb drive

It means your motherboard doesn't have enough SATA ports. Either change to a board with more SATA ports or get a SATA controller. (or SAS. 2 SAS ports can break out to 8 SATA).

Most modular PSUs have two SATA cables for drives. Some have 4 ports for cables like that, so if you're not using molex, you can buy another SATA cable from the PSU manufacturer.

the windows is only there to get the total price.

the optical drive is needed to rip Movies to put on the media server.

ok I Cut one HDD that fixed it I forgot the optical drive uses a SATA port

this PSU, for example, does not have enough SATA ports

it only has 4 if I use the VGA one as a SATA.

I have this PSU, should be a good one. (CORSAIR RM750x 2018 model)

And has at least 9 sata power plugs.

I wouldn't get that PSU either way because B3's don't have properly functioning power protections. I would suggest this PSU instead, which does have 6 SATA power connectors.

Yeah but i wouldnt get the 550Watt tho, those 6 drives alone can amount to about 200+Watts. Just F.y.i.

Checked real quick and some spec sheet said 12.3Watts a piece (when reading) so thats about 80Watts.

Plan accordingly. Best of luck with your build.

On both CPUs you could easily reach that. I'm pretty sure either could get 4.8 with ease, and you have a solid chance at 5 ghz.
