Samsung 960 Pro as USB Drive?

VernoxVernax
Go to solution Solved by Origami Cactus,

If you want an external nvme drive, just get this:

It's pretty pointless to begin with and I've never seen an m.2 to usb adapter either.

Yep. You can get USB enclosures that adapt M.2 drives to USB.

https://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=612  (edit: As below, this model of enclosure doesn't support the NVMe drives)

Dmitri has a video where he uses the Silverstone M.2 to USB adapter as a USB drive, and if you watch his other videos he actually carries it around and uses it on a regular basis.

It's pretty expensive and in most situations you'd probably just be better off buying a high capacity USB flash drive.

The 960 Pro is a PCIe drive and that enclosure is for SATA drives.

Make sure to quote or tag me (@JoostinOnline) or I won't see your response!

Scrolled the product page and I saw it mention NVMe drivers, but only skimmed it and didn't read it properly. It described NVMe drives then below stated that the device doesn't work with them :D

My fault for being lazy and not reading properly.

Looking on Amazon and there are enclosures that list support for PCIe NVME SSDs. You'll just need to make sure the enclosure/adapter you buy supports the NVMe type of SSDs.
