Ryzen 3000 series?

What do you guys think, will the next series be 12c/24t and 16c/32t chips?

Anyone got any info/leaks regarding this topic?

It would be pointless to go 16c as it would really hurt TR sales. I'm thinking we'll stick to 8c/16t for the time being. Maybe 2020 or later.

I will think that the r7 3800x will be a 12c/24t.

I only see your reply if you @ me.

If they actually increase the core count on mainstream which is 99% highly unlikely, it would still be for only 2 additional cores at best, so 10c/20t.

i'm more focus on the single core speed to put even more pressure on intel, i'm trying to find the excuse to build an amd gaming rig.

Since they are increasing their Threadripper core counts I would expect to see the same with Ryzen. Threadripper 1 had an 8 core sku and since Threadripper 2 only goes down to 12 core I imagine it isn't out of the realm of possibility to expect a 10 core Ryzen sku in the future.  Though that might complicate the CCX arrangement a bit. So maybe not. Who knows. I'm talking out my ass.

Probably the 16c/32t ones.

But its still ~9 Months or so until then because Lisa said that EPYC will come first.

If they actually increase the core count on mainstream which is 99% highly unlikely, it would still be for only 2 additional cores at best, so 10c/20t.

a CCX right now is 4 Cores, so a multiple of 4 is very likely.

A 5 Core CCX is very unlikely...

If they increase the Core of the CCX they either go for 6 or outright 8 cores.

As the Server is their goal, the 8 Core CCX would make more sense.

Though I'd suspect more like 4 CCX.

Well my R7 2700X is within 10% or so of a stock 8700K, while being easier to cool, having cheaper mobo options, and better in most multithreaded tasks. Plus it includes a dank RGB cooler that only needs to be replaced if you're gonna OC. Not that you need to really, it boosts to 4.2GHz ezpz.

that 10% gap is what keeps me on intel, for gaming anyway (it matters), i'm already looking hard at a 2700x for workstation, i've heard about the supposed 2800x, gonna be interesting.

Here, Here. Running a 2700x right now, but if the 3000 series offered a 6c/12t chip with decent IPC improvement and could get close to 5Ghz I'd switch in a heart beat.

That's the difference between 90 and 100fps, or 180 and 200 fps, not really noticeable. It'd only be a problem if it's the difference between 50 and 60fps because then you'd see stutter/tearing on most screens. If you have a G-Sync screen though, that doesn't really matter. And for a workstation it should be killer.
