Anyone heard of this brand before? "Biostar"

The owner of the pc store in my area brought in a really nice looking itx board,

Biostar B450-gtn itx.

Colour : Matte Black

Special features : Dual bios, dual rgb heads

Price : $110.99

I was thinking of getting it but I've never heard of them.

Are they any good?

I'm using a asrock b350 at the moment,

There a smaller brand but still somewhat common. I cannot verify the quality though as I've never owned a product.

they used to be big around here way back but i guess over time the other brands shadowed them a bit. at this point i cant vouch for their quality since i havent used them in like 10 years or so. but if were comparing them to asrock then id put those two as the same level of quality maybe?

They had a reputation for poor quality years ago. Don't know if they've improved since.

Biostar's been around since I worked for CompUSA. Yeah, that long ago. I think it might've even been a Biostar board in my younger brother's system when he was "testing for the Y2K bug". LOL

Biostar makes the occasional nice board but most of their history has been OEM level stuff and server stuff. If you're not looking to overclock and it has the features you need... It'll probably work. LOL

I owned a Biostar motherboard years ago and it was terrible, but they might have improved the quality of their products since then. Try to look for some reviews of the product you are trying to buy.

Should I get the board? If my cousin oced my 2200G to 4.0ghz I'm gonna get a 2600 soon he's probably gonna OC mine like his to 4.1 as well.

Or stick with my asrock b350

Eh, cheap Taiwanese brand selling their motherboards. While nowhere near as good as names say MSI and Asus, but at least it's a name brand. Not some sketchy names you're not even sure if the warranty works.

Biostar is an old school brand. If you're looking at budget boards anyway, you're probably not going to be any worse off by going with the Biostar board.

That brand is from taiwan,

I think is the typical brand that is ded but due to mining they got a boost, I wouldnt trust in cheap mining equipment to game.

If you're looking to OC, I'd stick with the Asrock, honestly.

If you want to OC, don't go for Biostar. They're sort of okay-ish but their B350 ITX board was absolute rubbish VRM-wise. You can't acchieve any decent OC due to overheating VRMs. Biostar is a cheaper brand, they're ok for what they're doing but nothing enthusiasts should care for.
