@EVGA @ASRock

Tbh, if they are willing to use SO-DIMM slots, m.2 mounted vertical or the back of the board, there could be enough space for the VRM.... theyd have to come up with some impressive VRM cooling though.... maybe real fins and heatpipes....

Still think SODIMMs are the answer to this problem.... put the cmos on a wire... maybe we need a new SFF EITX lmfao

realistically it would have to be SODIMM, and it would have to use the back side a lot (M.2 and low heat parts)

We can dream though.

There's definitely a form factor that's ITX that's longer at two PCIe slots (mini DTX), but I'm not sure if there's an itx but longer sideways with the width of an ATX board ._.

Just make a new standard, what does it matter I mean look at USB connectors. Universal my ass.

Its not like any of them make sense anyway... Maybe we just need a proprietary board and case solution, like dell... Never thought Id want that

Imagine trying to pass all the data modern PCs need around though... could be done with ribbons maybe...

Dell and HP both do some weird stuff, down to their own plugs and connectors just for the little bit extra inconvenience for no reason. You know something messed up when you open a PC and there is no ATX 20/24 connector at all.

Well I don't think it would be that hard to stack to motherboards like that. Even today.

What I mean is, use about 10 stand-offs between the two bords and they are in place!

Sure, you'd need a low profile AIO for both boards and low profile RAM, but the biggest challange in my opinion would be the case to support the I/O shield for the board on top.

we are not talking about two systems here, we are talking about one motherboard being split, there are 10s of thousands of traces on a modern board..... I guess you could split off VRMs though with relative ease. same with sata and ither basic IO with a pcie bridge.... Hmm.....

I think epic would make the most sense.....

Jeez that double take almost broke my neck, how did I not see that. I don't think that would be wide enough though, ITX only just fits the socket, VRM and 1 PCIe slot and epic is not as wide.

Edit:

Wait no I'm wrong, nanoITX not miniITX, so mini-DTX then?

I think of the ones that already exists FlexATX seems like the most likely one that would fit it

lets be honest, at this rate its going to need to be a standard feature on all HEDT board, servers VRM need decent cooling already... These are just higher clocked server chips, pushed a fair way outside of their efficiency curves.
