Gaming System -- What are the bottlenecks?

Hey all,

So.. this is my final product! (Aside from the desk that I'm currently in the process of changing).

  1. What do you think?
  2. What are your critiques?
  3. Which hardware is a primary bottleneck? (According to TheBottleneck.com, my CPU needs to be upgraded to the i9-7980XE in order to keep up with my twin GTX1080Ti's. Is that seriously my best option? I know that the i7-8700k would technically be a good choice to upgrade to, but I'm not looking to buy it, due to how long it's been available. I'm just trying to play things smart and not buy anything that'll be topped within the next 6 months.)

If this system is for gaming, the i7 8700K would perform better in games than the i7 7700K.

You spent a lot on the GPUs and I think this PC deserves a better CPU if you're gonna spend so much on your setup. TheBottleneck.com isn't really a website you want to be using, you can't really calculate a bottleneck.

Thanks the compliment and input, man.

Should I really consider the 8700k? Seems to me like it's about time for a new Intel CPU release, and I'm nervous about spending money on another CPU/motherboard/monoblock because of another socket change.

i wouldnt bother changing anything in this setup, even with two 1080ti´s you will still be limited by the GPU´s when you play in 4K.

The CPU will be fine and you would probably not even notice the difference in games when you would switch to a faster one.

2x1080ti will be bottlenecked by most CPU's in 1080p and sometimes in 1440p but not further so you don't have to worry about that.

The i7 7700k was a top gaming CPU during Pascal era at some point and as such was recommended left and right for gaming - this hasn't changed because suddenly we have 8700k.
