Screen burn-in? What is wrong with my screen.

Hello LTT Community,

It has been a year since my dad bought the Sony Xperia E5 phone. He only used it for calling and taking pictures. I've noticed something on the screen which has been growing and has, at least for now, stopped growing. It looks like a burn on a screen but my father never put the screen to a lighter, he isn't even a smoker.

From the pictures linked below, could you tell me what is going on and is there a possibility to fix this issue. This is really, really strange.

Thanks!

Maybe it got left in the sun? But there is no way to fix it other than to replace the display.

Burn In can only happen with Oled screens.

This is something faulty with the Panel, probably a defect within, or whatever. my TV had something similar (just black shadows, instead of colored). In the End, i couldn't do anything.

Maybe some of the Background lighting "burned out" or something? Or any electrical defect, caused by a short circuit at this spot, causing damage...

Is this visible when the screen is off?

You can probably either replace the screen (which is probably not worth, depending how much the screen cost as a spare part), or you simply buy a new smartphone (very attractive is the Xiaomi A1 Android One device, or a Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Global, which is very popular, and does support LineageOS as custom Rom.

The phone was always in the pocket or on the table in doors, so... No.
