Why not turn it in to a media server, or something that decodes or encodes your video files, a personal NAS, something you can play around with hosting internal IIS files or a CentOS web server, email server or something you've not tried?

A home NAS is nice to have. Particularly if you can set it up with SFTP/SSH for remote access to all your files.

I would say you could create a VM server but 2 cores 4 threads won't get you far.

thats the typical problem people have with servers, getting a server up and running is easy and it is the solution for many problems.

The thing people dont see is that it solves absolutely no problems for you if you didnt have a problem to be solved to begin with.

A NAS is really something that you should consider if you haven't got one already. None of my computers have files/documents stored on their drives.

I store literally everything (all my files/photos/media/etc.) on my server. That way I can always access whatever file I want, whenever I want and wherever I want (if there is internet connection off course). That has helped me quite a few times in not so nice situations.

no, if you have a problem it makes sense to search for a solution, most people that get a server try to get a solution for a problem they dont have.

If someone really needs a server there is no need to ask for wat to do with it because it was build with a certain purpose in mind.

OP did not mentioned he needed a server. He had simply set one up. I do this myself as well: tinker around with hardware/software without the purpose of actually solving a problem (that I don’t have).
