I tried but it will only let me format as portable and not internal

On the Manufactures page, at the SD card specs it says for storing multimedia files. Your probably only going to be able to make it portable storage. Not every phone allows you to make SD act like internal storage. As not every phone on Android supports SD cards because SD cards are not supported by stock Android, its a feature that is added in by manufactures, how they add it is up to them.

So I got a phone recently, but I cant use my 128gb sd card i put in. i dont understand how i am meant to store my stuff there....

I am using a bq aquaris x and a 128 gb sandisk sd card.

Yes. I meant micro SD.

Apparently, the phone only uses the SIM 2 slot for that.

Also, have you formatted the card?

Because that's what SD cards are, portable storage. Internal storage is what is built into the phone, not what you add afterwards.

Scrap that. Is the card a UHS-1 rated card?

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
