Mini Display port to Thunderbolt

I have this lenovo Tablet the Lenovo helix 1 and it has a mini displayport. What confuses me is that can it be used as a thinderbolt 1.0 port. And an older GFX card to be installed to inprove performance.

 

Dont call me stupid its just that both types of ports look alike and sometimes if it fits it works.

Thunderbolt 1 and 2 use the MiniDP port. It's the same physical port.

 

Whether a device supports Thunderbolt or not though is up to each device's specs - not all MiniDP ports are Thunderbolt 1 or 2 ports, but all Thunderbolt 1/2 ports are MiniDP.
