ive only really experienced a va and iPhone ips screen. Is ips that good relative to tn?

IPS over TN any day. I will not buy anything with a TN panel. No matter how much "better" they are getting.

Yea I kinda dropped my new panel whilst talking to the msi support guy because it couldent handle it’s full refresh rate...

 

i want something that can compare to the va panel that thing had... but with g-sync

Elaborate? I've been using an MSI monitor for months now without an issue, easily the best monitor I've owned yet.

 

But most of the time, yes. IPS is that good relative to TN. There are good TN panels out there, but those don't hold a candle to good IPS ones (and they're few and far between.)

Stares at the prices.

Just get a BenQ 1440P IPS and call it a day.  At least that don't cost near that level as those two. 

 

On the deal of IPS and TN, what do you value more?

Color accuracy and color range or fast response and high refresh rate.

what? IPS is only really necessary for content creation. So long as you're looking at it straight on a TN is actually better for gaming because of the lower response time

It could be a problem for monitors this big though. My 24" TN already shows bad colors on the corners, I assume it will be worse on a 27"

Not as big of a problem as backlight bleed, especially in gmaes

It's better for situations where input lag is king (say competitive FPSes), though you can get good VA panels that give you the best of both worlds.

Isn't that kind of a matter of preference though? I mean having made the choice, I'd rather have some backlight bleed than have my monitor look funny at an off-viewing angle.

heh no my monitor came from msi with blacks that turned into purple dots.

and I have to pay more than the monitor to be fixed.

I had the first 27 inch one...

also the ghosting is terrible over an inch and a half at times

I don’t play games (I even suck at Tetris) and I’m definitely not a content creator. However, I prefer IPS befor TN any day!

Especially if you have several monitors, the advantages of IPS become really apparent.

Therefore no TN for me.
