. ddr5 ? havent heared about that yet and dont blieve its gonna happen anytime soon.

DDR5 is coming after the AM4 plattform is moving to AM5. So 2021 for the consumers.

@sluz just get a CPU that fits your budget. Depending on Vega pricing you might be able to go for a Vega Freesync combo or Rx 580 with freesync.

If the 8400 is a bit out of budget a r5 2600 with B450 or 1600 with B350 will be cheaper.

Remember to grab a good mobo. B350/360 PRO4 from ASrock or B450 PRO4 or Tomahawk. The tomahawk is from MSI, its only good om B360 and B450.

while i agree with your recommendations, his original post and parts list let me to believe we werent talking budget options here

"You know it'll clock down as soon as it hits 40°C, right?" - "Yeah ... but it doesnt hit 40°C ... ever  😄"

well, i mean i got the cash for a better build, but i think i wont go over 1.5k E. i mean i wont be too strict about it, if there is a much better option for a particular part for a few dollars more ill go for it.

also the monitor (and a mechanical keyboard) are not on the budget, ill just get those however they end up costing, cause im really looking for 27" and a new keyboard (yes im still on rubber keyboard from my pc like 20 years ago).

i've read that generally the cpu and gpu should be like 50% of the price cost of the build. should i follow that rule approx?

also can anyone explain me this benchmark from this article on anands? is 8400 really overperforming more expensive cpus? should i look for the K version if it even exists, to OC it? especially if i get intel id probably end up OCing it since later when it gets a bit old new intels will be on a new socket and i wouldnt be able to replace it.

btw, prices are a bit weird here, and ill try to check out how much would each combo cpu + mobo + cooler(if needed) and ill post it here.

call me crazy but generally for a gaming build i do 50% budget on gpu alone approx.

So here's the preliminary mobo/cpu combo, without too much research done in mobos. It seems that cpus here are reasonably priced (still higher than you could get online as far as I see on pcpartpicker), but, and a huge BUTT, gpus are retardedly expensive here.

For example just for comparison EVGA GTX1080Ti SC Black Edition Gaming, 11GB GDDR5X, 352-bit, 1670/1375MHz, 11G-P4-6393-KR costs around 650 usd (lowest price I found) and here it costs over 1k usd (1036 usd).

Also mobos for amd seem cheaper than intel counterparts and for example I can get aorus gaming 5 for amd for approx the same price of aorus 3 for intel.

I think with my budget I could even stretch it for a 1080ti possibly if ordering from abroad. If I spent like 1000$ / 850E for a cpu mobo and a gpu, I think the other 500$ would be enough to cover an ssd, a psu and casing.

Mind you I havent decided yet on the gpu, mobo or the cpu, but I will try to gather as much info and put some more configurations and prices for them.

a quick update:

i did some gpu researching a bit and 1080ti is out of my price range. i think ill have to settle with a regular 1080 or 1070ti. on that note which of the 2 do you think would be better?

also i can get this one on sale in the next few days

https://www.alzashop.com/msi-geforce-gtx-1080-gaming-8g-d5325370.htm?o=1

what do you think about msi gpus in general, and particulary about this card?
