It is best to ask a direct question or limit it to 1 or 2.

Tried both open and proprietary drivers. (yes the system menu showed GTX 970)

The error message mainly just said a error has occurred before asking me to send a report.

Gonna try that next, but I realized my secondary machine has 16.04 but that was unstable on my main machine, also I was sure it was 14.04 on this one... O3O

just a protip, when you make a question that is incredibly aggressive towards the community you're asking, you probably shouldn't expect a lot of great assistance. Given that the symptoms you are describing are very likely not related to a faulty OS release (not impossible, but very unlikely), by coming towards the problem with the attitude and aggression towards Ubuntu that you have, I can't blame anyone for dismissing your post as someone who just has a faulty board and is unfamiliar with and wrongly blaming Ubuntu, and if that were true it wouldn't be worth their time to try to give you assistance. Learn to ask better questions, and you might get better answers.

Well Ubuntu 14.04 and Windows 10 works fine also the stupid forum have no bug report option, how the fuck am I gonna access the bug report if my PC crash or hang before the report is done? Not to mention that retarded pile of crap Ubuntu reddit does not even allow tech support!

Probably but I have been avoiding booting up Ubuntu, also I am not able to really see the bug because the bugs I see in Ubuntu all seems like unstable OC related once which none of which explain why Ubuntu OC the system to the freaking moon!

Well I looked all over the BIOS but guess what there is no factory reset feature, so reset CMOS and drain power is all I could do, managed to upgrade to 16.04 from 14.04 with a whole shitload of terminal text lines, so I am gonna wait for it to upgrade to 17.04 or 18.04 when it does so automatically I rather not risk it OCing my system to beyond the moon again... O3O

I dont think ubuntu 18.04 is a steaming pile, i think ubuntu 18.04 with gnome 3 is a steaming pile. Switch to either ubuntu mate or kubuntu and life should be much better for you. Use flatpak to install steam and you should be good to go.

i had no issues with unstable OC's (i'm on a laptop so i don't think that's even possible) but i did have a really annoying problem, that being that i coudn't login from a cold boot. i had to boot it, then restart it and then it would work. that got so annoying that i installed Lubuntu 18.04 rather than standard 18.04 and with that i have no issues..
