If you go that route get an R5 1600/R5 2600 instead of the R5 chip

Don't buy MSI AM4 boards go for the ASrock Pro 4 instead

Buy a case that actually has airflow, and that PSU is crap

But IMO you're better off with a Ryzen APU for now, and save the rest of your money for when GPU prices are normal or next generation GPUs are out, you're likely to get GTX 1070/Vega 56 performance for around $300 soon enough

Get the ryzen 5 1600 instead. Wait a few weeks for the chips to go on sale and you'll get a better deal.

Consider a used 1060 6GB, the 1050ti is a bit underpowered.

Don't cheap out on the power supply. Never. Get an EVGA branded 550W, 80+ bronze at the very least.

How is the CX450M crap?

because the 2015 model is crap, the 2017 model is fine, more average.

Personally, I'd recommend saving up for a better GPU.

A 1060 6gb minimum...

It's just that we're not that far off from the next generation of GPUs coming out and by then the 1060 6gb should cost about the same as the 1050ti.

You could go with a system with an APU for now or something instead to get you by..

That's just my opinion though.

Your build is perfectly fine ;)

Though, I would go for a better PSU just so you're good to go for future upgrades and all of that. A 550watt 80+ bronze one or something shouldn't be much more and will get you a little more comfort room. There's a 600 watt one listed there for like 40 bucks..

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/DmWrxr/evga-bq-600w-80-bronze-certified-semi-modular-atx-power-supply-110-bq-0600-k1

I'd go for that one.

There is no 2017 CXM. The difference between the 2015 CXM and the 2017 CX, is that the CX has a rifle bearing fan and an LLC resonant converter, while the CXM has a sleeve bearing fan and a double forward converter. While outside mostly outside what I know, they're not that different in practice, I think. @JDE @STRMfrmXMN

Well, in actual use case I do believe the non-modular version lacks a PCIe connection that the modular version has which is actually a pretty big selling point.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

The 2015 model is on your scale fine or good. Nearly the same thing, but the 2015 has a extra PCIE connector and is modular.
