If my laptop is plugged in almost all of the time, should I remove the battery?

Discharge the battery to %50 and then remove it.  Lithium cells degrade much faster when at full charge or low charge.

if youre using a dell you can also set a custom charge rate for your battery in the bios (i can do with with my latitude E6430) - ex only setting it so the laptop charges the battery from 20% to 50% when needed

There's no option for that in my BIOS

Maybe it's in one of the Dell utility programs. I'm pretty sure that Dell has a thing that can cap the battery charge (unfortunately I forgot what is it)

I've heard it can cause issues if you leave your battery plugged in all the time, but I've yet to see any issues with my laptop. Battery health is sitting at 96% after more than two years of constant, daily use, always plugged in too.

Nah, the battery will be fine, even after using it for years. If you always have the battery out, even a quick unplugging of the power cord will cause the laptop to shut off. In other words, keep the battery in.

Lithium batteries aren't that easy to degrade.
