i have this strange state of mind where i have a really hard time keeping up with what's going on in the world. stuff from tech to politics, it's all extremely overwhelming. sometimes i want to shut myself away from it, but in reality i cannot because tech is tech, politics is politics. i'll be left behind quickly and be labeled as 'living under a rock'

anyone else have this thinking process?

I don't follow politics, I have a strong opinion on politics and the American government but that's not a discussion for here. CNN though is decent for some review on tech and government affairs.

Then don't follow it. A lot of it doesn't affect you, and if you're not one that gets involved in discussion or action, then why worry yourself with it? It's not that hard for me to stay up to date, I just read a few things, browse over the Tech News section to see if there's anything interesting and that's that. I'm not an encyclopedia, there's no reason for me to know everything. There isn't a reason for you to know everything either ;)

My peers who study humanities, especially political science, laws, history will talk about them none stop.

Engineering students like me on the other hand... well, we have better things to do than reading articles and do analysis on it.

i do read the news occasionally however and some times check on trump’s twitter to see what new insane nonsense he had been tweeting lately.

Well, don't you feel like living under a rock following all those politics and tech news? You are afraid of how you would be labeled but in my understanding much more important is not paying that strong attention to what makes you miserable. It's your life and you just need to let some things go away to be happier!

Good luck and best wishes!

I had a similar idea, when i stopped following regular news the idea basically went away...

When it comes to politics, i usually choose one that matches with their general vision, not what they are promising months before election because it's usually BS anyway.

Where i live it's always the same, many promises, nothing changes.

Fun fact, i live in belgium, we had no gov more than a year, BEST YEAR EVER.

No annoying changes, no new stupid laws, just taking a break from it and just leave it as is for a year is REALLY underrated...

If you want my attention, quote meh! D: or just stick an @samcool55 in your post :3

its almost like a year without change is good for a country. just to get a overview of whats actually wrong. Its sad to see signs of the current ruling parties trying to manipulate the market to power their less efficient agenda (sometimes, not always).
