Are notebook HDD's compatible with desktop Motherboards?

Yes, the connector is the same. The difference is the size. Where as desktop drives are 3.5 inch, laptop drives are 2.5 inch.

yes they are and what do u mean all u get is notebook hdd?

 

On Pcpartpicker for cheapest HDD's, when I click on the item for more information, all I see is "NOTEBOOK HARD DRIVE"

go to pc part picker click storage then where it says price click it and it will sort from lowest to highest.
