1060 3GB with Dual monitors enough VRAM?

takedadshiro

Good day!

My current setup is a 43inch 4k display using a 1060 3GB. I play a lot of PUBG using low/medium setting at 1440p. The VRAM usage is about 2.6GB - 2.8GB.

I’m planning to buy a second monitor (LG ultra wide 25inch 2560x1080) to play games and just use the TV for watching content.

I just want to ask, will I exceed the 3GB buffer of my 1060 when I use 2 displays? From what I’ve heard that when you reached the buffer of your graphics card you will notice a huge hit in performance.

I’ll just be turning off the TV and not puting things to display on it when I’m gaming and vice versa when I’m just watching content on the couch. Yes, I can just plug and unplug the cable from TV to monitor but I think that is just too much hassle.

If it is enough, it should just barely be enough, depending on the browser used and content watched.

I’ll not be using the TV when I’m playing games.

To make things short, will i see a huge VRAM increase if i use dual monitors even if there is nothing displayed on the other.

you might will start running into stuttering if the VRAM is loaded to 100%. you might want to consider dropping the resolution to 1080 if that's the case.

I doubt that just having a desktop on the other screen will effect gameplay.

Considering the resolution of the display I’m planning to buy (2560x1080) I think I will get less VRAM usage compared to gaming with 4k TV at 2560x1440? Is that correct?

Just sitting at the desktop you might see a 100ish MB increase, at least that's what I saw with my ol' 7950.

Considering I run 2x 1080p and 1x 1050p monitors off a 2GB GT 710, having a desktop on the second monitor won't (or at least won't in any noticeable way) affect the gaming performance.

less resolution usually means less VRAM, but there is a lot of stuff that gets loaded into the VRAM depending on game settings, so maybe, maybe not.

I used to run 3x1080p screens (6.21mp) on a Radeon HD 6850 1GB.

Also ran a 4K screen (8.29mp) on a Radeon HD 7950 3GB, and a single 4K has more pixels than 2x1440p. (7.38mp)

You guys are worrying a bit too much. o.O
