So guys i am using a Corsair Vs 550 as Psu and i want to upgrade it.

I've found 2 Psus that i think they are good and i want your opinion.

1)Evga Supernova 650GQ V2(90 euros)

2)Corsair RXM 650(103 euros)

So what do you guys think.I think i will go with the EVGA one cuz its cheaper but i dont know if its as good as the Rmx one.Btw if you have any other suggestions let me know.

they aren't the best , but if it's running the machine just fine and there are no problems then clearly it's working fine.

That doesn't make it a good unit.

It's entirely possible for a bad PSU to kill the components while being able to power it. Not saying it happens in this case, just saying you can't rule it out.

How long have you had the PSU for? It's probably fine.

Both are good power supplies. I would go with the Corsair because it has a 10 year full warranty while the EVGA only has 5. To me the 5 more years of warranty are worth the extra money.

Dont want to sound stupid but 5 years warranty are fine for me.All i want is a good Psu with Zero fan mode(I dont know if evga has this feature help me if u know)and i want it to be trustworthy-efficient.

For a 1060 it's not that big of a deal. If it makes you feel safer then get the cheaper of either the RM550x or EVGA GQ 650W. Otherwise you can probably keep it.

I know 650 are too much but i will probably buy a new Cpu-Mobo and i want to have that 200 watt headroom

Both the EVGA and Corsair have zero fan modes at low to medium loads. In terms of reliability, they are both great and you aren't pushing them to their limit by any means.

You don't need 650W. That is the most bullshit and useless wattage in 9 out of 10 cases. Only with Ultra High end GPUs and HEDT system + heavy sledgehammer overclocking you can think about those...

If you don't have a HEDT system, 450-550W is fine.

So you can save a bit money here and go for better ones.

Since you mentioned Euros, here some alternatives:

Bitfenix Whisper M, 450 or 550W

be quiet Straight Power 11, 450 or 550W

Silverstone Strider Platinum, 550W.

getting better quality/higher efficiency PSU.

Wattage is the least important thing about a PSU, for a normal Single GPU/CPU Mobile/Desktop system, 450-550W is sufficient.

I know 650 are too much but i will probably buy a new Cpu-Mobo and i want to have that 200 watt headroom

For what?!

You don't need that.

Look at that box:

DSC_4247Andere.md.jpg

specified for 100% load in 24/7 operation at high ambient temperature (40-50°C)...

You don't need those "200W headroom" no more.

That made sense 20 years ago but not today!

That one was running a system one week before the pictures were taken without any problems.

So that makes the PSU perfectly fine/good, right?

You mean like that?!

Your statement isn't any better. I just showed how wrong you were and that its a total bullshit statement!

What you see here is a leaky cap, that is why the capacity is higher on that ESR Meter.

And what you are also missing is noise, voltage regulation and the other shit as well.

There are huge differences between a "System Integrator" Level and the higher end ones.

Like independent voltage regulation for all rails. A Corsair VS regulates the +5V and +12V together, if the +12V rail is loaded and +5V is not, +5V rises while +12V falls in this case. ANd the opposite when +5V is loaded and +12V is not.

Do you want a 550W Corsair RMx or do you want a Linkworld Briliant Power 550 (LPK19-35)

Do you want a Tacens Mars Gaming MPII850 or do you want an Enermax MaxTytan?

Do you want a Tacens Mars Gaming MP1000 or a Seasonic Prime Ultra 1000W??

You get my point?!

Wattage _IS_ the least important thing for a normal Single CPU/GPU system!! (normal Desktop/Mobile Systems)

You want a good PSU. You want a good 400-550W PSU for that system instead of a shit "700W" one. That is my point.

So you rather want something like Bitfenix Whisper M, Corsair rmx, be quiet Straight Power 11 and not Thermaltake Germany Series, Corsair VS, Thermatake TR2-S, Cooler Master B-Series and up to 620W Seasonic S12II-Bronze or M12II-Bronze.

I think what @Stefan Payne is trying to say is, you cannot reply on the advertised wattage that is on the label of the PSU.

You need to look at the actually build quality, electrical specifications and performance of a unit to determine whether it is actually what it is "advertised".

Getting a higher quality ...say 550W .. would be better than getting a chinese knock-off "700W" unit.

You are correct though, there wouldn't be much benefit going from a 550W to a 650W.

@NickWolf is going with the PSU upgrade mainly for the higher build quality, and increasing the wattage as a side.

I am not too familiar with the GQ V2 series.

I was never a fan of the GQ / NEX / G1 line of EVGA PSUs.

I'm sure @jonnyGURU has reviewed a few of those, too.

The original (?) EVGA GQ was supposed to sit just behind the EVGA G2 line-up.

If I had the choice between a EVGA GQ, and a Corsair RMx, the RMx would be my immediate choice.
