Am I missing something? (Flat Earthers)

The Flat Earth fools are absolutely serious.

What's interesting (and irritating) to me is how tiny they think earth is. They actually think that the earth's curvature should be visible in their immediate vicinity.

But it IS.  From any 'flat' location, the horizon from the view of average human height is only 4.7km away.  D:  At sea you can literally WATCH ships 'sink' over the horizon as they go beyond the curvature of the earth at a range of about 30km.

what confuses me is how if you used to talk about how aliens are among us you were crazy but this flat earth apparently is way more believable. like there are so many theories and conspiracies and this is the one they chose to believe? im confused but just like with religious people sadly you can argue with them. theyre irrational

i do hope you realize flat earth is not a belief of any religion i'm aware. So being religious has nothing to do with this level of ignorance. There are some religious people with very modern views as well, religion isn't the cause of igorance, it just helps ignorance show up

Insanity is not the absence of sanity, but the willingness to ignore it for a purpose. Chaos is the result of this choice. I relish in both.

Ah, the good ol' vanishing point ;)

I found a flaw in all their logic: If the Earth is flat, why are there different elevations and 3 dimensions that we live in? Flat would make everything 2D and there would be no height to anything.

On topic and serious.  The issue is the internet.  It has given the charlatans, the fraudsters, the trolls and the innately stupid a voice to recruit the blind and gullible. We see the same thing happening with everything.  A soon as you get some corrupt figure somewhere in the system a bunch of morons point to them and use it as undeniable proof that vaccines are dangerous, or that doctors put money before people or chemtrails exist.

The problem is you can't educate idiots, they by their very nature are unable to logically comprehend the information required to see why they are wrong. And I wish that wasn't easily dismissed as a self fulfilling argument (fallacy fallacy), because it really is the reality of the situation.

If the earth were flat then wouldn't it stand to reason that the planets would be too?

If you're interested in a product please download and read the manual first.

Which is why even the most remote and even primitive (I use the word very loosely) tribes knew the world was round.  They looked and the moon and the sun and decided it wasn't too complicated of a concept.

I'm not sure I see the connection... if you accept the idea that the Earth can be flat without collapsing on itself due to gravity, you can also accept that it could be a flat pancake in a 3d world. Physical dimensions don't depend on the shape of our planet.

It would, but by ltself that observation is no proof. There are many things we assumed in the past based on observations of other similar situations that turned out to be completely wrong. It's much easier to prove that Earth isn't flat actually, all it takes is some math.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨
