Posted February 8, 2018 Hi, I have been looking to upgrade my current CPU, a [ i3 6100 on Gigabyte B150N mini ITX motherboard, with 8 DDR4 2133hz RAM ], to a quad-core. I am basically looking for highest performance processor that i can fit on my motherboard, and so far the best seems to be the i7 7700k. Posted February 8, 2018 It doesn't have Bluetooth connectivity and there are no drivers for it on mobile, so it cannot be used with a phone. Sorry, wrong thread I'll edit again with a reply to this thread. EDIT: As you can't overclock, there's not really any point in going for a K SKU (the base/boost clocks are a little higher, but not by much) unless you plan on moving to a different board in the future. If you're looking for the most powerful, non-K SKU, then it would be the i7 7700. Whether that's overkill or not depends on your usage more than anything else. Posted February 8, 2018 7700k is good choice if it fits your budget. Is not overkill, even if you don't overclock it, it is still a very good cpu & better clockspeed than regular 7700. 7700 is 3.6ghz (4.2 boost) vs 7700k 4.2ghz (4.5 boost) as you can see 7700k is an already overclocked 7700, you don't need overclocking. If you're budget fits an i7, stay away from i5 (8 threads vs 4 threads).
