Intel core i5 7600k or Ryzen 1600x?

I'm building a pc and I wonder if I should use the i5 7600k or the ryzen 5 1600x

You should definitelt not buy i5 7600k because i3 8350k is cheaper and slightly better.

Anyway, the Ryzen is better overall, even for most games. You should really consider either i5 8400 or the R5 1600.

Don't buy Kaby lake at all

You'd want an R5 1600 most of the time

but what are you using this PC for and what budget/country?

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Like others have stated don't get a 7th gen processor as 8th gen males the irrelevant. Ryzen is a good choice but it would kinda suck to buy one right now when ryzen 2 comes out in April. The i5 8400 is a really good gpu for gaming and isn't a slouch in multithreaded performance. The r5 1600 is a more rounded cpu with better multithreaded performance but less gaming performance. That being said it may not make a difference depending on what games you play at what resolution and what gpu you run.

Those two shouldn't be the considerations. The choices should be i5 8400 and r5 1600

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

unless you have an intel bias, go with the 1600, not a fan of the 8400 either over the 1600 due to lack of threads and the 8400 only clocks up to 4.1~ vs 3.8~3.9 on the 1600 with 12threads.

For pure gaming over 120fps you want either the 8700 or 8700k
