do crazy people know they are crazy?

LTTfanfromSweden

so i have been interested in the human brain and diseases that change the way your brain works or just slowly kills it to mess with you.

I just saw a trailer for a movie and i've seen stuff like this before with the movie feed, but it made me think do crazy people know they are crazy? like do they sense that they are thinking differently or seeing and hearing stuff? or do they actually think it is there, I guess it can be different from patient to patient,  like some you see try to fight it and freak out and others get so into it its like their real life and they actually think what they see is real. id personally rather get so into that it feels real if it ever happened to me. in the past I have experienced with mind altering drugs and during some of my "bad" trips I have had times where I know I was tripping and it was all fake but I couldn't control it, It felt like i was in another person's body and they were moving and taking and doing everything for me and I had no controller even though I kept thinking its fake and that im in control I couldn't break it like I have many times before and I started panicking on the inside but I looked normal on the outside, do you think thats what its like when people have dementia or any other diseases that end up with people going crazy and deteriorate their mind?

Yes I do know I'm crazy.

Many other people however do not realize that they are crazy, often much more so than I am.

People who suffers from psychosis, of one form or another, also tend to suffer from anosognosia, which impairs the person's awareness of their own illness.

From what I can gather this is can lead to the strange situation where, say, a scitzophrenic person can identify scitzophrenia in other people, but can't identify it in themself.

However, anosognosia is not a stable condition, and the awareness (or lack thereof) can vary throughout a person's life.

I guess you can constitute full blown mania as a moment of "being crazy..." When I had that kind of manic attack I didn't think I was crazy. Although I laughed at it later from remembering what I said and thought.

America is the land of opportunity with 350M peeps, whereas Canada only has 10% so 35M.

Do a crime in the USA you stand a good chance of doing a lengthy bit, for that exact same crime done in Canada, you stand a great chance of doing very little time or even getting off on a NOT CRIMINALLY RESPOSIBLE or NCR which means you are in the Pysch ward until they deem you fit to be released into society. Do those people know they are crazy, I have no clue.

Calgary Univ Student serial murderer one incident - Son of a high ranking police officer, house party, knives his friends dead. NCR.

Greyhound Beheader - An asian man who beheaded a man on the Greyhound is NCR and is walking free today. In the USA he'd be doing life. He was off his meds and seeing things.

70 yr old mother killed her high needs child, demensia. NCR

Karla Hulmulka - Serial murderer played the victim card, is now caretaker of children in a Quebec school.

Pig Farmer - Serial murderer doing multiple life sentences.

High ranking Military man serial murderer and rapist multiple life sentences.

They can only hope to get to minimum security if its possible, medium is where they most likely stick too. Federal Penitentiaries are pretty cushy, more so then remand and provinical.

There is a study that says damage to a certain part of the brain causes changes in people. Its also in the National Geographic this month.

I tend to agree.

I think its a case by case study, do they know they are crazy, do they know they have a problem. Who knows.

Come Bloody Angel

Break off your chains

And look what I've found in the dirt.

Pale battered body

Seems she was struggling

Something is wrong with this world.

Fierce Bloody Angel

The blood is on your hands

Why did you come to this world?

Everybody turns to dust.

Define crazy.  There are some questions that if humanity ever manages to answer,  it is going to be so far of in the future you and I probably won't be around.

If you believe something is real and it is not you could be considered insane and you would never know it unless someone told you your delusions are just that.

Neither of those things are Amazonian.

Stretched ears is a practice that have been found in a variety of cultures, including ancient Egyptian culture and certain Sub-Saharan African cultures.

Neck stretching is not practiced amongst the indigenous people in South America. It's a practice found in tribes living in regions of Thailand, Burma and Vietnam.

Also, the practice doesn't stretch the neck, since that would lead to a slew of medical problems. Rather the weight of the brass rings forces the shoulders and collarbone down, essentially shortening the torso.

crazy like mentally insane. maybe its you who doesn't understand what I mean, but on this forum i've noticed only like 30% of people will actually know what the OP means unless its a very generic question and the rest ask 50 questions to get what other people understand from the get go, seems very hit and miss on this forum.

but that might just be becase the majority answer the question based off the title and never read the other text in the OP.

but I guess crazy can be subject in the way its used, you can think it only means mad crazy and not mentally ill crazy when others will use the rest of the infomnion giving to determine what the person means by what they are saying.

Seeing, hearing or feeling things that aren't there is psychosis, it is a disconnect from reality.

These things are extremely complicated and everyone has different experience, I am not qualified nor prepared to postulate on what other people experience beyond saying I don't think we have any real answers. And when/if we do you and I might well be pushing up daisies.

is psychosis a state they stay in or can they come in and out of or are they stuck in it, or is the answer both?  that would be terrifying to be stuck in that state.

its jsut interesting to think about, especially when you have experienced states like that.

i read somewhere that (removing from the equation all those obvious cases like a neighbor of mine who went to the front garden to eat grass while screaming) what a society may define as crazy is something we all are constantly, we are just constrained not to show it by society and it's rules.

Think road rage, it's a perfect example, when you remove the face to face interaction, we tend to do things we would never do, and it can affect the most peaceful of us. The instincts are there. Human nature as been bound for centuries of living in society but we are all animals that evolved from primitive instincts, some more than others, some restrain themselves more than others.

Or think how kids treat each other (female or male) in schools, were things are a lot more savage because they are still not attached to society rules and more "raw".

It's not human nature to do some crazy stuff, but humans evolved from primitive mans and before that from wild animals. Would cave mans restrain themselves from killing? would apes?

I strongly recommend finding a decent website or book on the topic.

A state of psychosis is rarely stable throughout the life of the psychotic person.

You can develop a psychosis later on in life and you can also come out of it.

There are also psychotic people that have better and worse days. There are people that will have periods of clarity in their illness, and then fall back into the psychotic state.

Not to speak of people who are medicated and have their symptoms lessened, or even removed, with the help of anti-psychotic medication.
