Games with great graphics

This is a discussion thread about games with great graphics, and how their gameplay is.

When it comes to this everyone defaults Crysis. However the first one's graphics aren't as great as they used to be.

I played it, & couldn't get into the game, as the gameplay wasn't that fun for me.

The second has some controversy in it, as there was heavily linear gameplay and I don't know much about the opinions of 3.

Which of the 2 sequels was best in terms of gameplay? And Graphics? I'm thinking 3 has better graphics. Just look at this:

Spoiler

Another great series is the Metro series from 4A Games. The 2033 original was tons of fun, and has an art style that doesn't hold up perfectly today.
However Last Light, and the redux of both look truly beautiful.

I can't wait for the new one to come out later this year. It's going to take all my free time till I beat it 2 or 3 times haha.

What are some other games with good graphics? Are they fun?

I heard that Skyrim can look good with Shader mods, and ESP or something.

I modded Fallout 4 a bit graphically, trying to achieve this:

Spoiler

But I couldn't get all the gameplay mods to work, (If anyone graceful wants to PM me how they did it and got it to work, I'll love you.) and the mod that gives you cinematic widescreen didn't remember my settings after quitting. (Same deal but for remembering settings) I really wanted to do the Frost Survival thing, and the aesthetic mods look really cool.

It's kinda like this mod for stalker, (Which I loved!!) however Stalker doesn't have great graphics, or graphics mods as far as I know.

Spoiler

I haven't played any other Crytech games like Rise (RYZE? Ryse...) son of Rome, nor Black-desert Online.

Again, any games you like that have great graphics?

Any mods? Any specific mods for games like Fallout, Skyrim, and whatnot? How about with great gameplay? FEAR was pretty fun, though I have only played the first one, and didn't finish it.

I've heard good things about Subnautica's graphics, especially at 1440p

Ah yeah, I forgot about Unity games. A lot of those are really good looking.

Have you ever played it? It has VR Support which seems fun to try out!

I haven't played it personally, although I would like to.

  1. Battlefield 1/4 have amazing graphics and the gameplay is a lot of fun if you like FPS games.
  2. Battlefront 2 looks amazing and it is a very fun game if you are a Star Wars fan, but it has a lot of microtransactions.
  3. Subnautica also has amazing graphics and it looks like it's a fun game. (based on the YouTube videos I've watched)

I played the heck out of Battlefield 3 on 360. It was just about all I did in my spare time when I got it haha.

EA BF looks good, and sounds amazing but I must protest their practices. I kinda played the first one, but I'm not too sure about supporting the company. If I got it for free, I'd totally play it haha.

Yeah, I watched Markiplier play it a bit, but he was too inconsistent with his subnautica videos, I stopped watching. It may be worth some deeper look.

I hope you get the chance! There are some cheap VR headsets out. I was hoping Sony would make their PS4 VR compatible with PC. I'd totally buy that one.

Have either of you played, or seen Escape from Tarkov?

Here's a video if you haven't

Apparently some guys that worked on stalker are making this. But that’s what they said about “Survivalarium” which is basically bad team death match from call of duty.

Now or it’s like DayZ but working and no Zombies.

Personally I love Battlefield 3 in the graphics department, it is amazing for it's age (2011). BF1 also looks very nice and has nice attention to detail here and there. Other games that come up to my mind are Elite Dangerous, Dying Light, Watch_Dogs 2, Forza Horizon 3 and the Witcher 3.

My stuff:

Mirror's Edge Catalyst, Mass Effect Andromeda, if you got the hardware for Hyper and Ultra settings these games look amazing imo

Also Quantum Break gets overlooked a lot in terms of of its great visuals

Is mirrors edge catalyst the first one? Or did they come out with a second?

How’s Andromeda in terms of gameplay? I know it’s really made fun of.

Quantum break was made by Microsoft if I’m not mistaken. Looks like a fun game that’s discounted in sales a lot.

I was thinking of getting battlefield 3 for PC but wasn’t sure if people still played it. Do they? I loved Dying Light.

For a free Forza experience a version of the 6th is on the windows store, with limited tracks and cars as a full free game. What do you think of the gameplay for the others? A lot of friends talked about the “spaceship simulator” long distance missions of elite dangerous being voyages of epic proportions.

Frostbite Engine 3 games look amazing. You can make pretty convincing screenshots in Need For Speed without post-processing. I'd also say Sledgehammer's work on the game engine they use for Call of Duty is quite impressive.

Those are the only ones I cared to notice in recent times. I'm thoroughly convinced that lighting is the most important element in graphics today than simply upping the texture resolution or adding more polygons. I mean, those two are important, but without proper lighting, the details look jarring.

Catalyst is the 2nd one, the 2016 game.

Andromeda's gameplay is fine, good action and exploration. It can be a pretty short game 14 - 18 hours if you only play main missions or an 70 - 80 hour long journey if you wanna do everything.

BF3 is very lively with 3000 players online at the moment, you will find a lot of servers for sure, just don't expect to be playing the DLC maps, most popular game modes are TDM and Conquest, anything else is pretty much dead.

BF4 has a lot more players with 12 000 players on PC at the moment, so most likely it will still be going for a lot longer.

Oh yeah, Gears of war always looked great.

I haven't seen Dishonoured in person. It looks kinda cartoony, and youtube bitrate doesn't help. Is it much better in person?

Inside is another cartoony game, but has a good art style. (If that's by the guys that made Limbo, and you like turn into a ball of people at the end.)

I'm not arguing with that! How does it play? I played underground and the physics were a bit blah. Does it compare at all to Forza? That's a pretty good racing game in terms of physics.

Yeah, I wanted to get Infinite Warfare. Not sure if that was Sledge or whom. Even WW2 is pretty good looking.

Even the original was actually pretty good and IMO stands up today. Especially with the Nvidia technologies-though it crushes some modern GPU.

I liked Mass Effect 1 & 2. Especially 2. The short little stories and quests about each area was fun. One of my favorite places from ME2 was the club city in the quarantine zone. Then breaking out Jack and then using her powers felt soo good to crush everyone. I'll have to try it out one day.

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter.

How's the gameplay? It's a side scroller I'm pretty sure. I got it in a Humble Bundle but never got around to it because of its 2D view.

Then I'm definitely picking this game up!!!! I will miss Rush though... That was my favorite mode on 360. Does Operation Metro Conquest use the whole map? I liked fighting in the long subway paths, and the outside area at the end sucks to me. It's just like blah, and a quite interesting end to the claustrophobic inner metro in Rush but for conquest idk. The giant sand map is excellent for conquest though!

Nothing will compare to the thrill of jumping off the ledge in Operation Golf though.

Without a doubt. Skyrim blew my mind back in 2011. I played that on my 1080p TV on 360 and OMG!!! I felt like the dragon born. I was also like 3 feet away from the screen too considering the actual distance of my eyes to the actual screen. Suffice to say, I wear glasses now. :P

Doom 2016 looks pretty good but the lack of lighting in most areas really holds the game back in my opinion. With Doom 3's lighting system, I'd say it's almost on par. The Wolfenstein Old Blood game uses the same engine, and looks better than Doom 2016 In My Opinion simply because of the use of lighting. (I'm 99% sure it's the same engine at least...)

I'm unfamiliar with GCN, and I really don't think it's this:

However I've seen some snippets of the redo they did for PC recently. Looks pretty good. Even Resident Evil 6 & 7 are good looking.

I liked RE 6 for it's easy to pick up action oriented gameplay. 7 was fun to watch PewDiePie play, but too spoopy for me to get into. I don't really like hard horror games like that. Even if it's not hard I don't know what I mean, but I don't like games where I feel so helpless or whatever.

Need for Speed, except for the Shift series, is always going to be an arcade racer. If you're looking for anything sim-like, that's not the series you should be looking at.

Which one is your favorite?

Do you play it on PC, or console? Some of these are on Xbox One.

If you're talking about racing sims in general, the only one I play enough of that is can be considered a simulation are Codemasters' F1 games. And I play it on PC, with a controller.

PEGI 3!! I'm not old enough...

The graphics aren't that good but it looks like a lot of fun.

Do you play with an Xbox 360/Xbox one controller? Or like a steering wheel?

Xbox controller. I did play the older versions with a steering wheel but the setup got too clunky for me to be fun.
