Sennheiser HD600 vs Audio Technica Equivalent?

Angelz&Airwavez

Hey! I'm looking to get into another pair of headphones! I currently own a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M50xs and some nice ear phones. However, I've been wanting a pair of open back headphones for quite some time now since I've been into quality audio equipment. I'm looking at the Sennheiser HD600 and 650s currently as I can get them for less the 250. What are your thoughts on them? I've always loved Audi Technicas products but I've heard too many good things about the Sennheisers. Please leave any other suggestions as well! Also, I am not against buying used! Budget is less than 300.

Thanks!

I mean, the 6xx are 200 so why not get those. They are all awesome headphones, far better than m50

Yea, I was in this situation before. Deciding between the audio technica r70x and sennheiser hd 650. Sennheiser is definitely the more common choice, so I went that route just cause it insured getting spare parts would be easier (you have to periodically replace the ear pads).

Hd 600 is an amazing headphone. Lightweight, hlits harman curve very well, generally though of as one of the, if not the best headphone ever. I'm not sure of any audio technica equivalents. Not that they don't make some good gear, they do, but in regards to comfort and clarity, in my personal experience nothing they make comes close to hd600.

Dt880 is even more comfy than hd600. Good suggestion. It's a bit more linearly distirted but sounds quite good in general.

I have both the ATH-R70x and the HD6XX, they are pretty close in terms of sound signature, the former has a slightly wider soundstage, The compare well against each other but the R70X cost a fair bit more.

Basically, for music get the 6xx and for gaming, k7xx
