Between new GPU which is best to buy now?

keavlar

Hey guys.

All you knew, there are currently few GPU that worth buying, so I would like to ask you, which is the best one to buy right now, we out need to overclock.

The GPU will run on 1080p, and maybe later on 1440p.

I would like to run the games as smooth as possible.

Can decide, if keep 1070, for the next 2 years, or to get 1080, or 1080ti?

What would you suggest?

CPU - AMD 5800XMotherboard - ROG STRIX B550-E GAMING , Memory  - G.SKILL TridentZ Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3600 ,

GPU - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti MSI SUPRIM X 12G,  Case - 4000D AIRFLOW Tempered Glass Mid - Tower ATX Case - Black ,

Storage - Samsung 970 EvoPlus 500GB - Samsung 870 EVO 1TB + 6TB HDD,

PSU - Corsair HX1000 , Display -  ASUS TUF Gaming VG27A 165HZ + Dell 24 UltraSharp Monitor , Cooling - Noctua NH-D15 Black ,

Are gpu prices not through the roof in Israel this week? In the US the 1080 has jumped to 1080 Ti prices and the 1080 Ti has jumped to Titan Xp prices thanks to the huge gain in ether's value this week. I wouldn't touch a new gpu right now, especially with something as killer as a 1070 already in hand.

Nop, the prices are fine.

My sis GPU died, and I need to buy a new one, so I was thinking to give her mine 1070 MSI Gaming X, and to get my self-something else!

I do not have options, so what would you suggest if I need to decide?

Keep the 1070 and buy your sis like a 1050ti if it’s 1080p. A 1070 is still powa for 1440p and anything except a 1080ti is a very stupid upgrade.

That's an F in the profile pic

I would suggest buying today then before the prices rise. I can't believe they haven't already. If you're only running 1080p the 1070 is plenty. The 1080 is roughly 25% faster, so if a 1080 sells for maybe 130% or less the cost of the 1070 I'd go with it. Though 1070 Ti might be a good way to go too. The 1070 is monster mining card though, and I'd imagine the 1070 Ti is also, so those could be the first cards to shoot up in price. The 1080 actually kind of sucks for mining in comparison to the 1070, but I'd still expect a price increase on it pretty soon.

It's always fun to get an upgrade. Having a 1070 already, however, everything above it is overpriced. You may find a 1070 ti for a good price, maybe, if you can find one, compared to a 1080, but I haven't checked price trends on GPUs this week. Anything above a 1070 will only be useful if you're using a 240hz monitor at 1080p or 120hz+ monitor at 1440p. If I were in the market I'd look for a 1070 at 400, 1070ti at 450, 1080 at 500, or 1080 ti at 700. I don't think any of those prices are correct right now, though, but based on that guideline, I'd look for whichever gets closer to it.

The difference in prices between 1070 and 1080 : 686.39 vs 902.53

That's a 30% cost difference, so in your area it might be a worthwhile investment, if we base it off the 25% speed increase

It's kind of borderline at a little over 30% higher price, so you could make an argument either way. If you were at 1440p I'd say get the 1080 hands down but at 1080p it's much murkier. What does the 1070 Ti cost in your area?

What monitor are you running or wanting to run? if you only have a 60hz then most of the performance you will not see. If you plan to get a high refresh rate monitor then thats different. I would say for a 1440p 144hz display then a 1070 would be perfect.

Then the 1070 Ti is the clear choice. The 1080 only beats it by 5% in the techpowerup testsuite of games at both 4k and 1440p (which is a better indication of future performance at 1080p than using current 1080p numbers where cpu bottlenecks start factoring in).

The 1070 is great for now, you could keep it until Volta replacements come out later this year, then upgrade and sell.

I just checked MicroCenter and every video card higher than a gtx 1060 3gb is GONE. WHAT IS GOING ON!!?? I paid $480 for all 3 of my GTX 1080s at microcenter (open box) and from newegg (new), the 2 gtx1080tis I got from Massdrop for $700, the 2 MSI gtx 1070s came on an MSI desktop I bought from microcenter for $900, and the 2 gtx 970 refurbished ones were $170 at microcenter a couple weeks back. All gone now. Is this just on the MicroCenter website to stop people from ordering for pick up? ~I don't do cryptomining, these are distributed across 5 gaming desktops and a workstation.

Holy crap, no kidding, I thought you all were crazy. Checked prices myself and everything is gone from Microcenter, Newegg prices have tripled. You may be better off buying a full blown machine with the video card you want, and try to sell the parts (or get yourself an upgrade at the same time...)
