3 GTX 1070 using 650W PSU

adibhaniff

Hi, i'm now using super flower leadex 2 650W gold psu. Will this psu be enough to power 3 gtx 1070?

My setup is:

Core i5 7500

Asus b250f strix mobo

16gb ddr4

1sata m.2 ssd

1 7.2k rpm sata hdd

No it will not be enough to power 3 of them if they are at max load. Also are you planning on using them in sli because they only support 2 way sli. I would recommend at least 850w for 3.

System Specs

CPU: I7-5820k   MOBO:Asus X99 strix   RAM: 32gb corsair Dominator Platinum 2666mhz   GPU: Gigabyte G1 Gaming 980TI  PSU: Corsair RM1000i

1070 @ 150W max, x 3 is 450w. system consumption maybe another 125w maximum. SF is a good PSU brand known to not produce potatoes, you'd be running at near max, but on that PSU, i'd do it.

not sure what you're doing with said 1070's but that's my rough math. I think you'll be fine.

pretty sure 650 would be enough even for 3

your b-series board will not allow multi-GPU usage (single only-lane configuration).

650 would be borderline at 100% load at 90% efficiency (230V not on 120V). 850 minimum for 3-way (if you get the driver key from nVidia).

and not with your VS650 at all..

Even 600W should be enough.

I'm assuming it's for mining? With little to no CPU load, 650W should be fine.

From PC Perspective's testing, a 1070 will draw a bit under 150W under load. Under Furmark, Anandtech's 1070 system (the whole rig) drew 270W from the wall. Ignoring the PSU's efficiency (which would drop at least 20W from Anandtech's numbers), and adding 300W would total a bit under 600W under a GPU load.

If you don't overclock anything then sure, but I'm not sure why you want to with that board unless you're mining.

Yeah. I wanna use it to power 3 1070 for mining. Really hope that it will suffice.

Have several friends using 750wat for mining. Wouldn't go a s low as 650 myself.

then set the cards to 80 percent power, find a stable OC on the core, and +500 n the memory. System should not draw more than 500 watts.

My system with two 1070's in SLI + 1700x Ryzen all OC mining was pulling upwards of 560 from the wall at times, usually settling down to 530 (+-5 watts), I mean i guess you can pull it off but just make sure you'r not running your CPU and you will be right at the max which probably won't be good for the long term if this is for 24/7 mining.

Clock specs were 100% power, +109 on core and +500 on the mem.

and i'll bet you had your power set to 120 percent too...9_9 what was your SOL/w? 2.something-low?

Already stated it was at 100. I was at 465 SOL's per card. This was a gaming rig primarily mining only when I was at work.I wasn't very concerned with optimizing them for specifically mining.

you mean you amended your post. fair enough, but you were not being an efficient miner. Sol/w and Sol/s are two different things.

Calm your hostility. No one is attacking you here. I'm just trying to give actual world number I have seen.

Mining with three 1070s myself (2x Asus Strix, one MSI Gaming X), and that entire setup is drawing 480W from the wall.

I'm not mining on the CPU though, that would push me to 550W.

I'm offended you think i'm being hostile. Your results were not in good keeping with best mining practices. That does not invalidate your findings, but if you're going to give tips and suggestions on how his PSU will handle the power load for his application, at least present it from a full time miner's perspective.
