The CPUs should not be refurbished from anything else then bent pins. Bent pins are really easy to fix, but some people are very afraid of doing this and thus return their items. Ask seller what was the issue with the CPU and how it was fixed.

thank you very much for the reply, this is really good answer :)

Hi guys. I was on ebay looking for cpu, and I saw many people sell a rufurbished cpu.

Iam wondering, what is refurbished cpu?

what makes it different from the original? is it bad?

and how can we indentify if its the refurbished one or not?

best regard

A refurbished item is an item that was previously not working/broken and then is repaired and sold at a cheaper price. They typically have a much shorter life span and do not come with any warranty. Which is why they are cheaper. Its really up to the person whether it is worth buying or not I have bought refurbished items in the past and they worked great but I have also had a lot of problems with other items.

System Specs

CPU: I7-5820k   MOBO:Asus X99 strix   RAM: 32gb corsair Dominator Platinum 2666mhz   GPU: Gigabyte G1 Gaming 980TI  PSU: Corsair RM1000i

There is no such thing as a refurbished CPU. Refurbishing would suggest the product has undergone testing and replacement of vital components to ensure proper operation, which you can't do with a CPU. It's just a trick. A CPU either works or it doesn't.

thank you for your reply.

so basically, when we get the cpu with 3 years warranty, can I be sure if thats not the refurbished one?

and one more question, in the back side of cpu typically theres a label like malay, or vietnam etc, what is that mean?

They are selling as refurbished because it sounds better than used.

That's where the CPU was diffused.

Technically it's possible. Bent pins, broken pins, bad caps, etc.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

Good point. But that's barely possible to do properly and ultimately not worth it imo.

@NelizMastr is right.

The only reason I can see why anyone would want to refurbish a CPU is if the CPU had bent pins.

EDIT: @DocSwag

when the cpu comes with 3 years of warranty, can I be sure if thats not the refurbished one?
