Guys i need your help deciding which graphic card i should get for christmas for my first build. I don’t know if i should get the gtx 1060 6 or the 3 gb. The cheapest 6gb version on amazon is £50 more than the 3gb version that i have in my basket right now. The 6gb version also only has 1 fan which i think could create noise problem (i think). So is it worth the £50 extra for an extra 3gb of vram. I also plan to be gaming at 1080p high to ultra settings with a r5 1600.

I'd go for the 6GB since it is stronger than the 3GB, but don't get the 1050 Ti if you can only afford the 3GB.

i'm the minority, if you are gonna save money and go for a mid range card, get the lowest one that can play 1080p comfortably, which is the 3gb, if you REALLY care about ultra, get the 6gb. (a 970 ~1060 3gb runs witcher 3 ultra no problems, but thats a 2 year old game)

The small price difference is definitely worth it because the 6gb version also has a small core bump.

On the other side if you need to save money the 1050 ti is also a very solid card. It can run all games on very high/ultra right now it's just not as future-proof as a 1060 might be. But then again, who knows about the future really...

None of these cards is bad ...

This.   The 6GB version has 10% more CUDA cores.  A lot of people think it doesn't perform as well as the 6GB because of VRAM, but if you're playing a game on settings that use more than 3.5-4GB of VRAM, your performance will be dropping significantly on both.

But only if you can find one that is at a similar price to the 1060 6GB.  It's not that much better.

Make sure to quote or tag me (@JoostinOnline) or I won't see your response!

I don’t know how vram limitation work but as i just watch a video from hardware unbox the 3gb one didn’t do that bad at even 4.5gb and i don’t know how this worked but it also did well with over 7gb of vram on tombraider but i drop alot in mirrors edges after 5gb was needed

Nvidia added a piece to the driver allowing the 3GB to not go over a certain frame-rate, based on games in their GE library, so that even if VRAM skyrockets and could cause issues, the driver reduces the intensity of the VRAM issue.
