AG241QG Monitor weird translucency

Gentoo3D

When an semi-transparent overlay my monitor looks very weird, looks a little like gradiant banding but i am not sure. I made some photo's with my camera and it is not bad quality, it is the exact same thing what i see.

Things that i already did:

  • RMA
  • Replace DP Cable
  • Tried it on HDMI instead of DP (and on another computer)
  • Try to play with Colors, Brightness, Contrast and Gamma.
  • Reinstall Windows
  • Reinstall Drivers
  • Install Monitor Driver

Colors are on 32-bit, 8 bpc, RGB Output and Dynamic Range is on Full. Resolution is on 2560x1440 and refresh rate is on 144Hz. The monitor i am using is the AOC AG241QG.

Here are some photos:

yep that's color banding

It usually happens on high resolution tv's as typically people sit farther away and don't notice it. it becomes noticeable when you sit close and focus on small amounts of detail. like text or in your case the color depth.

It usually come down to the quality of the monitor and there isn't much you can fo to fix it short of setting a tv to be purposely blurry. idk if a computer monitor will have that option though.

Alright, i changed the Dynamic Range from Full to Limited again and my color banding is completely gone. Does somebody has an explanation for this?
